Something wrong with 'New' indicator?

Posted by Jedi on April 20, 2009, at 12:39:56

The new indicator on Babble is on for every post. This started happening a week or so ago. Is it a problem with Babble or my PC?

Usually with the cookies on your PC. They aren't "remembering" you have already clicked on posts, so...

You might want to look at the FAQ on that - here:

Do you have a new PC, or did you erase all your cookies, change your options/setting for allowing cookies from this site, or something similar?

Let us know...

Hi Phillipa,
The system is supposed to show when a post has been added since the last time you accessed a board. This is shown with a little yellow "new" message to the right of the post. Right now mine is showing "new" on every post. I'll try what 10derHeart suggested to fix it. Hope you are feeling better.
Take care,
Jedi

Hi,
Thanks for the suggestions. I removed the babble cookies and let the program recreate them. Cleaned my registry. Still no luck. Probably some obscure security setting I changed. I'm using Firefox 3.0.08. I've been going to give Google Chrome a trial. Maybe that will fix it, or mess everything up. No big deal.
Thanks again,
Jedi

Jedi thanks for taking the time to explain. I do know what you mean. Not finding pdoc for my benzos and meds is driving me nuts. Love Phillipa

Hi Guys,
I kind of back burnered the problem with the "new" indicator, it wasn't really bothering me that much. I just got a babblemail from MollieQ that when she changed the date on her PC the problem was fixed. Even though my date and time was correct, I changed it and changed it back; the "new" indicator now seems to be working fine. I was a professional programmer/analyst for 14 years and these machines still seem to have a mind of their own.
Thanks MollieQ,
Jedi
