To the deputies

Posted by jane d on February 25, 2009, at 15:06:47

I don't know how to start this. I hate sounding like a cheerleader - picking things apart is way more my style but I'll try.

I think you guys do a good job. I don't this place would have survived without your work. I've been around this board off and on, mostly off, for a very long time. Many of the other boards that existed when I started are gone or unrecognizable - sold to the highest bidder sometimes. (Of course there are still plenty of choices out there for folks who think they'd be happier with a different style.)

Personally I'm glad this one is still around so I thank you for that. And I suspect there is a silent majority here that agrees with me.

Jane

Jane,
You wrote,[...I think you (deputies)do a good job. I don't (think)? this place would have survived without your work...].
I am unsure as to if you are stating such as an opinion or as a fact and what you are wanting to mean by a (good) job and if so how you differentiuated between the two or if it is something other than those. Could you post here the criteria that you used to post the statement in question either as a fact or an opinion? If you could, then I could have a better idea of any criteria that you post here, and respond accordingly. Could you also post here what you are wanting to mean by (good)?
Lou

Jane,
As per what you wrote above, would you be willing to consider emailing me to see perhaps what may be unbeknownst to you concerning posts that rules were made concerning posting links and posts here that I am unsure of as to if I can post them here? If so, and if others would like to see what may be unbeknownst to you, you could email me if you like at

obsidian,
You wrote,[...you guys are..special...I don't know how you do it...]
If the guys here that you are referring to are the deputies, then I am unsure as to what you are wanting to mean here by your use of the word, {special}. A generally accepted meaning of the word, {special} is that those that are {special} are held in {a higher esteem than others in the same group} or that the {special} have {an unusual quality} that has the {special} {stand out from their peers} and that the quality could be {unique}.
If you could specify the following, then I could have the opportunity to understand what you are wanting to mean in relation to what the following are and then have the opportunitty to respond accordingly.
A. What special quality or qualities, if you are wanting to mean that, do the deputies here have?
B. Could any quality that you are wanting to use if that is what you are wanting to mean, be a unique quality? If so, why?
C. If you are wanting to mean that {special} is to be held in esteem, could you post your rationale for such?
D. If you are wanting to mean that {special} means that the deputies are redily distinguishable from others of the same catagory, who are the others?
E. In.[...I don't know how they do {it}...], could you specify what the {it} is?
Lou

I am not necessarily silent, and many times not in the majority, but I am in complete agreement with you.

I probably don't acknowledge enough the hard and diplomatic work they perform every single day.

So...

Thanks deputies!

My recent addition to the "New Beginnings" in no way undermines what the job you guys do. I think it is necessary but I also think Dr. Bob limits you guys to do things he really should do.

So you get applause for the hard work you do, which sometimes the leader in chief needs to step in so that you guys can remain posters and not get bogged down trying to always be so hardworking to maintain the status of Babble.

I know I would not have your jobs due to the difficulty of knowing what Dr. Bob wants.

You guys do try to do your best and I appreciate that.

rsk
