This whole conversation has me totally baffled.......
I was of the mindset that the med board was for discussing any meds and that everyone was welcome to do so and if there isn't a post that applies to you then you create one or move to another board.I realize I'm not educated in the meds area-- I don't even know if the med I take is an SSRI or an MAOI.....(maybe this time ignorance really is bliss)
I truly didn't think it mattered what I was taking as far as posting here...... as, like what I've said before-- one man's trash is another man's treasure.....
I wasn't aware that there is a "set" group of MAOI people and a set group of SSRI people...... *sigh*.... kind of reminds me of the Dr.Seuss story- about the "Sneetches" where the ones with stars on their bellies didn't want to associate with the ones without stars.......
I just don't get the separation here..... thought we were all just trying to get better.... in any way we can and share what we experience........
*shrugs* and *scratches head*....... I'm truly confused.....

If these threads and posts were forced on us I would see reason for complaint. Is it not true that anyone can post on an issue that feels relevant to that person? Why would these threads be getting so much attention if babble members weren't so interested? Phillipa, if you did post a thread on that new Luvox, and it took up a lot of space, I would have said way to go! People wanted to know about that!! I'm not understanding, anyone can post on any med they want, in addition, I heard a lot of complaining that nothing was happening on the med board and it was "dying out". How about instead of now complaining when things strange and MAOI are kicking things up, we celebrate and post even more to round things out if you like. The board will self regulate based on where current interest lies. IMHO ~Jade

Scott just home and asked that question said I would of my pdoc. She replied that if someone has failed on all meds and they have atypical depression yes a pdoc will use Maois. She thinks my problem is more situation and didn't advise more ad's for me. Maybe that's why never withdrawal and not able to tolerate the SSRI's and SNRI's. She also was willing to send me back to infection control specialist who treated the lymes. I did decline on that as figure I'd have severe arthritis and spinal taps wouldn't have been clear nor MRI's two normal. She then went on to say clearly I wasn't depressed biologically that extreme anxiety was my illness and to up benzos and that I didn't need ad's as the key was fixing the situational problems. So for those with atypical depression great meds. So please I am not picking on you and glad those that do have the condition as getting the help from others they need. She's prescribed them for years as very old and her husband was pdoc till died of cancer. Thinks most of anxiety from thyroid which leads to more anxiety a viscious cycle. And the anxiety is keeping thyroid from stabalizing. Now the endo on Monday . And agree that all meds should be discussed on meds board. Sound a bit better as know how you've suffered for so many years. Didn't mean to hurt you my sincerest apologies. Please forgive me and my lack of empathy. Love Phillipa ps great traffic picking up on meds board.

I don't know about the whole world, but certainly the medical bureaucracy. In particular, it would be nice to have some control over the pharmaceutical industry as well as the insurance companies.
I know, I know. Let's keep it administrative here. We have very little control over the administration of this site if we can't even appeal successfully for a simple name change for a failed board. I find it frustrating to encounter such intransigence. Although, I guess I am equally intransigent. However, I am always right. Seriously. (Once, I thought I was wrong, but I was mistaken).
The system here is not a democracy, but does have the pitfalls of a democracy. On the Internet, this site is the worst - except for all the others.

Phillipa ps so when is neurotransmitters going to be something else? Was a suggestion of mine boy got off topic didn't take long.

Yes. There are frequently shifts in the areas of focus of the board as it follows its path through time.
I am very disappointed and a bit concerned with the reduced volume of posts on the Medical board lately. Does anyone have an idea as to why this is?

Don't you worry, I'll get right on that. Maybe, I don't know, a thread regarding the Parnate discrimination we seem to be facing? I'll call it "Parnate Discrimination". So don't worry yourself, I'll get a team on that posting problem ASAP. You just carry on, as you were :*)

My 2 cents...... when there is a large group of posters on a certain drug, such as parnate, repeated question are welcomed, no matter how long of a record-breaking thread is created.
Now, the poor poster that queries a certain med with little group following! They're usually tolerated for a couple of post's before someone tells them to look through the gazillion archives.
I've seen it numerous times. Not an issue for me as I spend little time at the site, pretty much search and go on to other things in my life.
I'd just like to see some patience shown for those that are not in the majority at any given time.
I'm sure some will dispute my perception, not a problem, I'm use to being in the minority! :)

Haven't seen you for a while hope you are well. Actually I just went down the whole board and answered any thread I knew anything about. Scott was saying the same thing. That we need more posters. I can only speak for myself, I think it bothers people when posts are made just for the sake of posting. So I try to make sure I have SOMETHING to offer that thread or person thats of value. Sometimes thats just support and thats fine. However, there is a poster on the board now who takes 4 or 5 meds, is having symptoms that I don't think we are qualified to "treat" and I told him to call his Doctor (in a supportive way).
So, as to sending people away, I certainly don't do that. But I also have limited knowledge and I don't feel comfortable trying to comment on medications I know nothing about.
As this post was directed to me I believe? Yes, I started the Parnate thread and I geuss it will wear itself out when its ready. But I hope you recall that I know you (and like you!) because I answered several of your night time posts when you were having trouble. Those didn't have anything to do with my agenda, I just wanted to help you.
I do hear and respect your opinion, any ideas?
Hope you'll get back to me!

As a new person this is very upsetting to me.
I wondered why so few people answered my cry for help. Maybe this is why.I am a moderator on an MS board and have been for many years and believe me we are strict. This would have been banned in a heart beat along with the poster. And with MS there are a lot of discussions on many drugs. (ADs in particualar because just about eveyone has depression.
We always address newcomers first! If not you get blocked from posting.
I was really hopeful because so many people were using Parnate and starting it at the same time I was. I guess this is not the place for me.Bye I will go it alone.
