How long?

For a sanctionable post, how long does it take once a notification of incivility is submitted before action is taken?

It depends on a number of issues, including whether we need to consult Dr. Bob, etc. Also, if a poster's babblemail is turned off, deputies have no way to contact them.

As long as your inability to contact the complainant does not influence your handling of an uncivil post in a timely manner...

I keep my babble-mail disabled for personal reasons. A post is either civil or it is not in accordance with your policies. I would rather you act on the post rather than on the availability of communication with the posters.

Once a post goes unchallenged for some period of time, its sanction is no longer coherent nor even relevant, expecially if it is to involve a block. Also, after some period of time, if action is not taken, then the complainant may justifiably conclude that the offending posting behavior is civil and therefore allowed without further comment by staff. I have a box full of buttons, you know.

I think it's fair to assume that the absence of Administrative action indicates that Administration decided not to sanction a post. It isn't action that's impossible if Babblemail is turned off, it's further explanation.

orig post: http://preview.tinyurl.com/9qqrdr

one and a half years later the post gets Bob's attention....

sanctioned post: http://preview.tinyurl.com/8qtd6e

so as far as we can tell any post from any time is up for scrutiny. as long as it is on Bob's site it is available for Bob and his deputies to take any action they see fit at any time after any length of time. makes one wonder if their posts from several years ago will be dragged out and picked apart for current definitions of civility..........as we've all seen this site go through many changes in the mighty FAQ w/ regards to what is defined as "civil" at this moment.

sigh.
