Because severe sleep problems are extremely common complaints of nearly all psychiatric patients, I am making a request for a new board here, dedicated to sleep disorders. Sleep disorders of all types are intertwined with mental health and ignoring sleep disorders while totally focusing on psychopharmacology is a fundamental mistake I believe many make. I see there is already an "advanced" board here dedicated to neurotransmitters.
This new board should discuss:
1) insomnia
2) early morning awakenings
3) waking too early
4) unrefreshing sleep
5) sleeping too much
6) sleep apnea and all forms of sleep disordered breathing
7) PLMD and RLS
8) medications that cause or worsen insomnia
9) sleep architecture and sleep physiology and its relationship to psychiatric disorders.LostBoyinNC
