dual personality?

Posted by rayww on March 16, 2008, at 13:06:39

Has anyone ever wondered if Dr Bob has a second identy here on the boards? What if he was Lou or Dinah or Philip? How do we know anyone is who they say they are? We come here at our own risk. We expose our problems because (we assume) our identity is secret. We come here to form community and share and receive help from others, not necessarily dr Bob.

If he was Philipa, Dinah or Lou he would have quite a lot of fantasy...

I assure you, aside from a passion for civility and an occasionally shared sense of humor, Dr. Bob and I are nothing at all alike.

Were Dr. Bob able to post as Dinah, or Dinah as Dr. Bob, neither of us could possibly be who we actually are.

But I take your point that feeling secure ourselves in our anonymity goes along with feeling insecure about the truth of the "identity" of others.

On the other hand, in the security of our anonymity we also reveal so much of ourselves that would make long term deception difficult.

If you mean me no wish I were as then maybe wouldn't be depressed and know something and quit asking all the time on the meds board. But I've often wondered if he could be a poster. Phillipa

Dinah that was very well expressed, but after reading it I'm less certain, more confused not quite as sure about my own identity, anonymity, and security.

if Dr. Bob needs to participate he must be heartily welcome

I think that a personal 'outing' could be difficult

hmm it's quite strange dr. bob isn't here anymore this without leaving a message. some people seem to be upset thus dr. bob's presence is of some importance.

i can't be here so frequently next time because I am overworked otherwise. bye bye.

Maybe in the vein of this thread, Bob ought to create a really annoying poster to test out the new system.
