Arrrgggh, had a long post and lost it.
The jist of it was is that historically Bob is Bob. He in fact may or may not respond promptly, or even at all.
This is the reality of the administrator of this site.
He may or may not in fact have a real grasp of the emotions we feel, thats his business I reckon, but we do have to live with who Bob is, for better or worse, as he is the owner/administrator of this site.
He does change, I have seen it, but its slow.
I do NOT know his motivations re: this site. Why he runs it etc.
I do not understand many of his descicions, I don't understand why he doesn't respond to our upset.
I just DO know, that its a waste of time to agonize over it.
We babblers may as well keep on doing what we do, in supporting one another, including deputies etc.
We will have to go on despite the quirks of our administrator. Even though they hurt us at times.
I am inclined to think that Bob doesn't intend to hurt. I think he just seems incapable of understanding some things. And thats OK. Noboddys perfect! We just need to know this and go on and adjust our expectations accordingly.
Just I hate to see people getting all worried and upset, cuz any answers may or may not come at all, or not promply if they do come.
This is the reality of our administrator of the this site.
There are wondwerful people here. Lets just let Bob be the background guy and not worry bout him.
Thats my thots.
I wrote it WAY better first time ,and I proly forgot stuff, but I goto go.
Take care all.

I think I speak for nearly all of the Babble community when I say that we are all respectful of the fact that you have been occupied with other professional responsibilities in recent days-in particular during the time when Dinah posted her message (above).
At the same time, I think it is going to be difficult to keep enough committed, dedicated, caring and compassionate posters here at Babble if our concerns are not addressed with the same respect and courtesy with which we have always tried to address your concerns. In particular, it only makes things worse for you to respond to an urgent request from us for information with a general request for a cooperative discourse. We have always been more than willing to do that, but, this time, WE NEED YOU TO ANSWER THE QUESTION WHICH WE HAVE ALL ASKED YOU, ABOUT WHY DINAH FELT SHE HAD TO LEAVE. We also would like to know if it would be possible for Dinah to return comfortably, if a slight change were made in the (as yet unknown to us) new rules and procedures which she mentioned.
As to the new procedures, WHY IS IT THAT NEW RULES AND REGULATIONS ARE PUT INTO PLACE WITHOUT ANY DISCUSSION HERE? IN PARTICULAR, WHY ARE NEW REGULATIONS ALLOWED TO DRIVE A LOVED AND VALUABLE MEMBER OF THE BABBLE COMMUNITY AWAY AFTER SEVEN YEARS OF IRREPLACEABLE CONTRIBUTIONS?
If you do not answer these questions in a sincere and straightforward manner, and with an understanding of how important this issue is to us, we are all going to be left with the sickening sense that rules and regulations are more important to you than the presence of long-time posters, who over the years have shared their inner lives, joys, sorrows, failures and successes, empathy and caring, with Babble members, and also with unknown numbers of other readers.
If I do not receive an answer which I consider relevant and helpful, (with due consideration for Dinah's privacy, where that may enter in), I am, very sadly, going to have to conclude that Babble is no longer the right place for me.

You wrote,[...is ever going to answer...so odd and strange...I don't get it...].
Could you expound more upon what you have posted here? If you could, then I could have more knowlege of what your concerns are and be better able to post a more comprehensive response.

There's more to babble than just Dr. Bob (no offense Bob). There's all the rest of us too! I'm VERY upset about Dinah being so upset, but I don't have the foggiest idea what actually happened. Until I hear more, I'm just going to hang back and hope for the best. I hope most of you will too, although I do understand people sometimes have to leave babble for their own well being. And if Dinah is going to do that, I hate it, but she has to do what's right for her and I respect that.
I hate to see everyone hurting so much. Its all so very upsetting. But like I said, I'm hanging in there, and I hope the rest of yall will too.

Yeah....and I guess it IS about comfort/safeness despite myself telling myself that this has been the way of babble since shortly after I've been here really. Nothing new.
I just dunno what to say, other than its quite possible Bob hasn't even read this stuff.
I wish I could make it all better.

> BobBob, we've all been trying to be patient with you about this, but it's really time for your attention to be turned to Administrative matters and the void left by Dinah's mysterious departure. As you can see, there's been lots of conjecture about what's going on - and YOU are the only individual who can clear up the confusion.
I know that I am both dreading and looking forward to your explanation as to what exactly transpired. I have all but suspended my participation on the boards pending your impending pronouncement, despite your stated commitment for providing a "safe and civil environment" - I'm afraid letting all this time lapse between the crisis of her leaving, and your response does not instill much of a feeling of safety in me.
I join my voice with the others here in exhorting you in providing a clear and full explanation of just what has changed with the policies at Babble that would cause Dinah to abandon years of service to you and the community at large.

I can't post either except here. I feel abused and empty. I feel like a lab rat. I have shared truly hard stuff and to be treated like this feels so wrong. It used to feel ok, and like Kath says well no he never promised us safety but I felt ok but to ask for answers and to be ignored like this is just wrong wrong wrong. And we, alot of us, are just asking for clarification. And Dinah, bless her, is trying to reasure of, but it isn't her place.
This is very triggering for me. Saddening really.
I feel like I am losing something I held dear and it won't be the same when all the dust clears.rsk

Sorry you feel bad.
But to reassure you, this is not new.
Bob has for some time not really had babble high on his list.
As for lab rat. Well I felt that way too, a LONG time ago. I kept asking Bob what his motivations were for running this site.
He dodges round the topic.
So this is an ongoing thing this prob.
I dunno what happened re: Dinah. Mebbe she just finally got pushed too far by Bob, which wouldn't surprize me in the least.
This is why I have kept a distance from admin stuff on babble, cuz I don't wanto get sucked into Bobs web.
It'll be OK.
Really.
We just need to decide whether its worth being lab rat to be here. I guess for me really, its just I can't tolerate the injustices, the lack of feeling and compassion I feel from Bob in certain instances where people are being hurt. It makes me feel so helpless cuz Bob won't seem to listen, or if he does, then he is not being able to understand. That really is why I stay away despite the WONDERFUL people here.
I put a link(the second link) on the f*rt thread I posted yesterday(?)on admin as an example of whats goes on...and that was awhile ago that situ. So you can see its not a new thing all this. Its been ongoing these troubles we have with Bob. Which is why I often say "Bob is Bob".
Maybe one day he will learn.....maybe...I am eternally hopeful.
Take care,
M

I would like to think that as a psychiatrist Bob understands that. Do I believe that he does? No.
I've been seeing this for years and it is just as sad now as it was the first time it happened.I feel that the consequences of Bob's lack of interest in the well being of PB will be far-reaching and traumatic to alot of posters. I think that alot of posters have left here, in the past, due to not feeling appreciated by Bob.

Hi Bobby,
I guess they don't teach much empathy in med school. The good doctors just seem to learn it along the way. Did you hide out in a broom closet for the length of your residency playing game boy? It would appear so. You'd be a great psychiatrist for a purely catatonic patient base. And I'm guessing this would be your preference too. I mean, my god, why would an esteemed proud physician such as yourself EVER want to interact with real live crazy people? That would be horrible wouldn't it?
If you could put walls up and turn PB into a virtual psychiatric asylum, I think that would be your ultimate evil plan. Of course, you could monitor it from the safety of your office not saying anything. Good luck with that.

Actually, the question before you, is how did you get to the way you are? Were you bullied as a child, always cowering in a corner? Because you seem to enjoy causing us to cower in corners and submit to your constant bullying.

I do also understand that for some of you it may have triggered feelings carried over from childhood. Awareness of how and why one's triggered shows self-knowledge. I think it would've been reasonable to carry on without me, but those who were triggered may have been less able to do that.
