Verne, Alex, Zeugma and Zazenducke all have a passionate sense of fairness.

This place is pretty quiet these days.

I never really knew verne or alex, but it sure is quiet without zazenducke. I miss her sense of humour.

Thats why I wish the length of the blocks would go up MUCH more slowly....and be capped at some lower point...
But I flap my gums...

Well so you do, but I think you are right.

The way the blocks are organised leaves anyone with a big block on endless probation.

Thank you for what you said about me. I didn't deserve all of it, you know. I've stalked off often enough and crawled back. :(

I love you, too. I know you know that, but I don't often say so on the record, so to speak. And I think it bears repeating.

I'm glad you reminded me of the coral colony idea last night. I'd forgotten that. Those posts are so long ago, and I don't feel like the same Dinah at all. I can't say I like it any more now than I did then, though. I guess Dr. Bob will always see Babble as a coral colony. He's interested in the colony as a whole, and the welfare of the colony as a whole. And he's probably right in that. I may disagree from time to time on whether his ideas are best for the colony, but I don't doubt that he's doing what he thinks is best. For the coral colony at least.

Babble has sustained some heavy blows and kept on. Cam is the one that strikes me most. But Lar and Scott for a while. I know that if I can't work out something about posting, Babble will certainly do just fine without me. The coral colony will survive and flourish I'm sure.

Thank you everyone.

As I see it, I am just afraid that if it is seen as as a coral colony then I do feel like a lab rat and suddenly don't feel safe. Like someone's project and this has been the event that projected that knowledge. Already I am basically just posting here. Not where I usually post and this hurts. I think I just might go where I can find anonomity and safety elsewhere. And where someone doesn't just post I am busy and nothing else. To that end it enforces the lab rat feeling. That no one matters, the good of what is above all else. That posters threads can be deleted when it suits the one deity only. No that is not acceptable. Poof, the post was gone, I am busy. Not too busy to erase the post huh Dr Bob. I usually don't like to be confrontational but geeze. How many of the coral units need to ask a question until the questions get answered. It is very upsetting. I guess leaving is the only answer. I think for now, I am not caring more about the answer of the questions, for now to me, it the way the answer was never delivered. We don't matter do we Bob.

Dinah, I will miss your clarity and caring of thoughtful answers, and even when you needed to sanction someone you try to do with heart. Unlike some one here, you showed you cared, and have a heart. Thanks for that. Do take care, that you are thought well of here by some many that send you a show of their feelings take heart in that, I wish I could say the same of the leader here. I am not trying to be uncivil but I think to totally disregard the feelings of the unanswered questions we are being treated uncivilly. I don't think I have ever received a PBC and I Have never been blocked. But if I am n ow treading on thin ice, I apologize to Babblers. I am not trying to do that. I am expressing my sadness at the face in the photo at the top who chooses to diss us. This is how I feel and I feel a need to express it.

good luck Dinah, and you too Alex, I agreed with your words.

I meant that to be reassuring, not scary.

I've always understood that Babble was greater than he sum of its parts. So in that sense I can see viewing it as a coral colony. But since I was also part of Babble, I saw it more as the posters who make up Babble. Or as I put it in that long ago thread (even if I don't remember doing it)

"The part that makes me sad is that I'd rather he saw Babble as Gabbi and Alexandra and Mel and Toph and Lou and Daisy and Sabrina and PartlyCloudy and Dinah and Rod and Broken and Gardenergirl and... well, you get the idea... and all those lovely (exuberant or fierce or really interesting or kind or bubbly or... well, you get the idea) individuals that we haven't yet had a chance to meet but are really looking forward to meeting."

And while I might be wrong, I always saw Dr. Bob's view as being a bit different. As focusing on the whole rather than the parts. We're both seeing the same thing, but our vision is different. And what I was saying is that no matter what happens with me, I trust Dr. Bob to do what he thinks is best for Babble as an entity.

I could be completely wrong.

My understanding is that Dr. Bob is just really busy, not that he's deliberately avoiding anything.

It may sound odd for me to defend him, but my issues with this are at least in part *my* issues. I own responsibility for my lack of ability to be flexible in this, even while I recognize that I really can't be flexible in this. (Can you tell I've been to therapy lately?)

I dunno. I really meant it to be reassuring, since I seemed to have caused distress. But my judgment is not what it used to be.

>That posters threads can be deleted when it suits the one deity only. No that is not acceptable. Poof, the post was gone, I am busy. Not too busy to erase the post huh Dr Bob.

I deleted Alex's posts, not Dr.Bob. Why me? Because Dr. Bob hasn't been around and so I made an educated guess he wasn't available. Dinah had resigned and Racer was otherwise occupied. So it seemed, even though I also was very busy IRL, I was the most available in the shortest time.

Why deleted? Not because it was Alex, or because of the content. I like Alex very much. Alex was one of the first posters I got to know a bit when I was new here. Alex is a special and beautiful soul. BUT - those things can't matter. I don't consider those things when taking this action. Sure I'm human, and if I read strong language, I have feelings about it, good and not-so-good. But I can't take admin actions like this based on *my* emotions at the time. When you're blocked you're not supposed to post - anything. Dr. Bob's choice of policy, when you decide to post anyway, has been to delete the posts, at least ever since I've been here. As a deputy, I've agreed to help consistently enforce his policies here. Not 100% of them, all of the time, but whatever I'm comfortable with and can make time for as a volunteer. I do agree, *in general,* with blocks, and then enforcing them the best we can. Which in reality, is just to keep on deleting blocked posters' posts after the fact - no way to prevent anyone entirely, blocked or not, from posting under new names.

Having said that, it doesn't mean I'm some robot. Far, far from it. For example, it's very hard to do anything to the posts of someone you feel you know and care about. But if you didn't do the same thing you'd do if it were a new/unknown posting name, well, that sounds like playing favorites and that I can't live with, either. So, it's just hard. Sometimes, it'd be easier to be a deputy if I were robotic. But none of us would really want that, I don't think. I get upset, conflicted, depressed, angry, sad and all sorts of other emotions around some actions, or even inactions, I choose as a deputy. It can be da*n complicated sometimes. But so far, yes, even now, I still believe in the concept of civility and in Dr. Bob's overall ideas about fostering it here. I am a fierce supporter of civility, actually, here and IRL. We'll see, in the near future, if I still feel my being a Babble deputy is compatible with my integrity. It well may not be, but I can't tell yet until I hear some sort of explanation I can *understand.* We'll see - but I, too, have lines in the sand.....

Just one other thought - and this may come out all jumbled - if so, I apologize. Although maybe I didn't delete the posts in a "timely" manner, I did it as soon as I was able. Usually, one of us tries to remove blocked posters' posts ASAP, to avoid people starting threads that will later make no sense, to avoid potential distress, and to be consistent with the whole idea behind blocking. It's interesting, though, from past experience and recent feedback, to see how timeliness means vastly different things to everyone. Seems to depend on how they feel about blocking in general, long blocks, repetitive blocks, and so forth. Some think deleting any time after a minute or two of when the posts appear is too long, and are distressed. Some think deleting them *at all* is an awful thing to do. I suppose some (many?) fall in between somewhere, but as a deputy I don't often hear from those folks. I just did - and do - the best I can at the time.

I haven't had, and won't have much if anything, to say about the current - what to call it? - situation? until Dr. Bob has time to have a dialog here, but I thought I'd post this as it was something specific I did personally know about.

And rsk, hope you can feel better and not worry too much. Maybe give it more time because honestly, based on past experience, 3-4 days really isn't a long time (see my ramblings about "timeliness" above :-)) for Dr. Bob to *not* say or do anything about anything. Change is slow, communication is slow. There was a 2-week period once..... Like Dinah said, it really, probably is about his work and other IRL responsibilities. I think that's sooo hard for us to empathize with - at least for me - 'cause Babble is so high up on our priority list, ya' know? ((rsk))

I know he must have a very busy schedule IRL however he has undertaken the responsibility of managing this website.. due to the stress this is causing a lot of posters, could he not delegate some sort of response to one of the deputies until he has time to dialog further? I think the suspense is very hard for a lot of people to take..just wondering..

First I want to thank you guys, I did think Dr. B had deleted the posts, I stand corrected. Dinah again you show your truly lovely colors and this is why we will miss you. I guess I feel like I am only really getting to know you and now you will be leaving :( this is a sad day for Babble. I do thank you for trying to make me and everyone else feel better.

10derheart you are like your name. I thank you for your post and it did not ramble. You clarified my ignorance on who did at least part of what upset me. However, the main culprit has yet to come forth.

And as Justherself says....he did take this reponsibility on and it seems to me a little like let the dust settle and all will be ok. Or silence is the easy way out. I don't know. To me it is unsettling.

But i do appreciate the effort you all made to try to help. ((((babblersoneandall)))))))those here and those blocked!

I don't read everything and when I do its not always with the best comprehension but there's a bit of a defining moment going on here and I have a list of thoughts:

1) Bob may not have time to fashion a carefully stategic response right now.

2) But I am certain that he is awarae of the turmoil.

3) This is a test.

4) Of the Deputy system.

5) Of Dinah.

6) Of Babble.

7) Of me.

8) If a Babble generation is about 2 years as I have previously speculated, Alex's 2 consecutive 1-year blocks is essentially a lifetime.

9) People threatening Bob to expain something will likely have a paradoxical and disappointing effect.

10) Begging for Bob to say something... well, what have we come to.
