A feature I'd like to see in BabbleMail

Posted by Racer on January 31, 2008, at 14:14:13

Suggestion for BabbleMail:

How about adding a checkbox to allow BabbleMails to be cc:'d to Dr Bob and/or the Deputies? I'm thinking kinda like the Notification feature, so that we could "report" without having to forward a copy.

What brought this up is that I get BabbleMails periodically from someone I've repeated asked not to contact me via BabbleMail. Every time I make this request again, I feel pretty frustrated, and would like to be able to cc: Dr Bob, to prove that I've asked nicely not to receive BabbleMails from this person, and that my request is -- I'll be charitable, and say my request has been "forgotten," multiple times.

Anyone else like that idea?

I e-mail most people as I've met so many nice people here and on other sites. Neighbors too. Don't hardly every babblemail don't trust them and always get a copy for me too. Phillipa

Why does Brother Hsuing need to be involved? Perhaps he has not "forgotten" but is merely overworked. Delete without reading is a simple and efective way to deal with this sort of thing.

Please assure me I am not the babble mailer to whom you are referring as I am quite sensitive and easily hurt.

I WOULD like to request a cc feature for other posters. This would enable mass mailings for invitations to secret mailing lists and cotillions, christmas letters, art photography!!!, etc etc etc

Thanks for the suggestion, but why not just forward a copy?

Or maybe you're just trying to make a point? Since you've never BabbleMailed me, it's unlikely that this could apply to you.

I hope you'll forgive me if I don't close by wishing you peace. I'm afraid to do so might cause you offense, which is certainly not my intent.

Forwarding a copy of our BabbleMails to you means we have to have a copy sent to ourselves, and then forward that to you. We can. It's clunky, but it's not a big problem.

Honestly, when I wrote that, I was just very frustrated by the BabbleMail in question. I've had a day to cool off now -- and am still pretty frustrated about this. I haven't even decided yet whether I'm going to bother with forwarding my response to you or not. I don't think it will do any good as far as not receiving these BabbleMails.

I'm thinkin' on it...

I think it should be done as well. Babblemails have long presented a problem, from what I hear from others. Yet they are rarely reported. Adding a notification button would remind posters that uncivil babblemails can be reported, and would encourage the reporting of uncivil babblemails.

Plus, Dr. Bob, I'd remind you that I *have* forwarded the one uncivil babblemail I received. And you said the fingerprints didn't match. Since I'm positive that I didn't change anything, clearly there's a problem in doing that.

If it's a babblemail you've sent to someone else, only they'd be able to click a notification button, so I don't think it would help.

If it's one someone else has sent to you, then you can just forward a copy.

Babblemails already include a reminder that they can be reported. I don't think a button's the answer.

Really an excellent idea.
