In class today we talked about the different kinds of research, and especially when one would use observational research in public areas without participants permission. Ex. drivers behaviors at stoplights.
I mentioned the web and your site and was told I could use your site as research because it was "public" but the users are not identified with real names. As long as I don't innereact with any of the posters here. With archives going into the years, I could actually use that data because I wasn't a member of the site then. Or I could stop posting and then do future research.
Are you aware of this? Is that why you ask for all the demographic info, etc. when we join, to do future research?

I ask for demographic information so that I can characterize the Psycho-Babble community. I'm not planning on using it for research.
