And why are they all of a sudden on so many replies to posts?
Used to see this "raquo" not-name and also not-poster pop up sometimes but now it's all over the place. What is this artifact?

I was under the impression that it is invoked when you check the "Include name of previous poster" box, to indicate that you are responding specifically to that poster's post. Am I missing something?

Yes, but it doesn't happen to every poster when you hit the "add name of previous poster" button. I see that it happens on some people's posts and not others. (Like, I don't think it will happen to my post to you.)
Just one of those irksome, quirky things that will bother me until I find the answer.

Hi CS,
http://www.raquo.net/right-double-angle-quotes.html
This might help it's to with '»' before the poster names. Not sure why it happens but for example if I wanted to put two poster names in the header I would type type the subject then hold the ALT key while typing 0187, and hey presto a raquo », then if I tick the add name of previous poster box I get both names separated from the subject and each other by the doovies.
Hope that helps.

Sounds rather technical Damos. I always thought it was an acronym for Robert Adds Quite Unusual Objects. Go figure.

G'day Toph,
Hah! Yeah I like your explanation way better.
Hmmm, curiously my level of technical sophistication can be be summed up by a phrase and a question.
"If a hammer can't fix it, it aint worth fixing."
"Is it plugged in and switched on?"Hope life is being good to you mate.

I made a lot of raquo-buddies when I was typing on an ASian keyboard. I'd click the box and presto

Australian posts?
I like the idea of being out of the anglosphere.
Unfortunately I have returned to it.
Japan was better than Europe for me.
Though I must visit Krakow and the Carpathians.
This is the end of the thread.
