This board is for people to help people -- so if they forget something because they're suffering from a major anxiety disorder or they're a little hazy in the memory, what does it accomplish to put them down.

There, the one single sentence that I forgot to put an I feel.....

I feel that this goes beyond the pale in dissecting every nuance of what I feel was an unnecessary distraction to the therapeutic nature of this board. And it wasn't particularly in reference to the person above, I hadn't meant to click, above poster -- it was the whole nature of the entire .... I can't think of any other word other than what I think was one "roadkill" after another, without what I feel was anything redeeming being accomplished in the entire thread.

I urge you to reconsider this oversight and I urge every deputy and Dr. Bob to reconsider Phillipa's block and I also urge you to forgive me if I was possibly uncivil in any nuance as it is nearly midnight and I am well, poorly.

Am I right in my interpretation of this? This warning was given to yxibow because he was defending the civility rules and trying to make someone NOT feel put down? By trying to make someone who was criticized feel accepted again, he deserved a PBC? I feel that this isn't right. Or maybe I'm not reading the post correctly.

I really feel more and more confused with these civility rules every day. The written rules are there, but the guidelines are totally unclear.

>There, the one single sentence that I forgot to put an I feel.....

I'll try to clarify. The PBC wasn't about saying "I feel" at all. In fact, if you put I feel in front of that sentence, or in front of any part of it, it would still be considered uncivil.

The issue is characterizing other people's posts negatively, and/or accusing them. The uncivil phrase was: "what does it accomplish to put them down." In keeping with prior practice, a post is outside the bounds of civility here when it contains language like this, as it could lead the poster in question to feel accused of putting someone down. If you see this happening, the thing to do is use the Notification button.

I was well aware of your intent to support Phillipa, and that is always appreciated. It's a matter of not using potentially accusing language in your own posts when you do this. It's usually better to focus on what the other poster could do differently/better, than to point out what s/he did wrong. The civility rules are a challenge to get the hang of, but with practice, it can be done - if I could anyone can :-)

I hope that helps. If not, I'm confident another deputy or Dr. Bob can articulate this even better. It's important to me posters understand, as much as possible, why we do what we do.

respectfully, deputy 10derHeart

But that's the point, it wasn't to "defend Phillipa", that's an afterpoint I put in here. It was a general statement that the entire thread was going absolutely nowhere therapeutic.

At any rate, respectfully disagreeing, I think another look at what I -actually- said would be better. It really aimed at no person in particular, yes, it happened to appear to aim at the person above but it was about the spirit of things in general.

I would like a reclarification, but this is why I never returned to the board after nearly committing suicide late this summer and not using the computer for months. Side tangent and irrelevant, but I became disillusioned about how much was, as even Dr. Bob says -- "don't believe everything you post."

I am unsure as to what you are wanting to mean concerning the {this}. Could you write here what the {this} is that you are wanting to mean here? If you could, I could have a better understanding of what you have posted here and be better able to post a response here.

Frankly speaking, the ... well I'll get in trouble if I say anything in further but you asked so this is merely my opinion and only my opinion.... the lack of true collaboration, the extreme watchful eyes of deputies for every last error, the squabbles, disinformation, antipsychiatry rants, and everything you wouldn't get at a live MFC/doctor moderated meeting.

So thats the this.

I left because I was banned for something so trivial it seemed somewhat inane to me. And I don't need that stress with 6 medications and trying to patch a life together.

What I said was a side comment, again, not to attract attention -- I did have a fallout this year.

-- tidings.

yxibow,
You wrote,[...the lack of true collaboration...].
Could you elaborate on what you are wanting to mean by that?

I'm glad it was only "nearly" and that you're back. I'm sorry you were blocked, it can take practice, this I-statement thing.

I'd like all the threads to be helpful, and I appreciate the helpful contributions you and others make to them.
