Another thing to add is that new threads should appear in the top of the page, not in the bottom. Sorry if it already mentioned, i didn't read the whole thread. (having a little ADD)Personally, i would like to see a mainstream/conventional layout. Like the one we see when we visit 95% of all forums.

Thanks, that's a good point, maybe "dealing with particular types of behavior by posters"?

Dr. Bob, I hadn't realized how many times I go back up a board before switching to another. Would it be possible to put that little thin line of boards directly above the posts as well as directly below?

I think I always looked at Babblechat at the bottom. Is it possible to put that at the bottom as well. It seems that something that small could be added to line of items at the bottom without adding too much to the clutter. And to be really picky, I'd prefer if the top Babblechat link was at the end of the line of items. That way, the number of those in chat is easy to pick out.
Also, is there any way to set up a "jump to" link with a pull down menu to get to the boards? That could reduce clutter as well. Maybe put the list with descriptions in one place, perhaps the top, and then a jump link at the bottom. Or vice versa?

Hi Dr. Bob,
I was wondering if you can put a babblechat counter at the bottom of the pages? Other than that, thanks for relatively seamless transition to new layout.-Ll

I believe that when someone make a reply to an old thread, that thread should pop-up in the recent posts. It's what we call a "bump".
I'm not sure if this happens already, but i think it doesn't.

There weren't any comments before about moving the Babblechat link to the top, so let's see if we can get used to it up there.
But I'll try to move it to the end of the line, that might actually simplify things a little...

I think no one mentioned the chat thing before because it didn't occur to us you'd move it. I too would prefer it added to the list of boards at the bottom rather than at the top, since that's more or less how I use it.
We can't foresee everything, Dr. Bob. :)

I'm greedy. I want the babblechat link at the top and the bottom. Sometimes I look at it when I first open a board, sometimes when I'm done reading.

Does it *really* make that much difference in programming? You're now having people tell you that it is important to them. Is it that hard to move it down to the list of boards?
Is it aesthetically unpleasing?
I'm trying to understand.

OK - I almost never visit admin and I came over here to post about "the chat thing" because I HATE it at the top. It makes me forget to look and see if anyone is chatting. And looky here - I'm not the only one.
Can we vote on this?

How long do you think it is reasonable to get used to it? I don't want to over post about this, so if I'm not use to it in about a month from now, is that too soon?
Thanks for responding.

How about if we give this the rest of the year and revisit it in January?

I don't understand this either. I don't think a single user of the function likes it better, or as well, this way. And all have stated that they *don't* like it this way.
I think of Chat as another board in effect, a destination to choose at the bottom of a page. It makes far more sense for it to be at the bottom.
And I really don't understand the opposition to satisfying the wishes of the users in such a relatively minor matter.

Huh, I like it at the top because it is right there when you first come to the site. Of course I wouldn't mind if it were at the bottom also, but I do like it at the top.

I waste precious moments trying to figure out where the chat link is and my friends have already logged out!
If they had but known that the effervescent noodle was on her way perhaps they would have lingered.
January? Is that your next scheduled free time? :(
boo hoo

well said LLurpy.
I start at top, see that there's people in chat.
Scroll down to see whats new, and when I get to botton I would usu recheck chat, but now I can't. So I scroll back up and reply to a post of two and get back up to chat at top....and everyones gone! Or I just catch a poster I wanted to talk to...leaving.
Its nice to be able to peek into chat top AND bottom so you can check to see for certain posters and jump in there if they are there.
By the time you get thru the board...ofttimes its too late.
OH well.
Bob will do what Bob will do.
Capricious comes to mind....
Sigh.
I hold no great expectations.
Sorta like blowing wind....
Posting releives the pressure, the side effect is a slight stench, but it passes, and everything stays the same.
