Dr. Bob,

Sorry, but UGH! I really like the background color the way it is. I do not like the two tone look. Too "messy."

Dr. Bob,

I think you could even eliminate that second paragragh. But please set up a "HOME" page where you have the links to the Babblemeter and all the other things. And put that link to HOME either at the top left of each page or in all caps at the bottom.

The HOME page would be a great place to put how to get in touch with you and the deputies. And please make that page accessible even when a person can't sign in because of password or name problems.

Thanks!

The one about Psycho-Babble Tips? I'd like people to remember that they're there. I think it would be nice if there were more, even...

Something like the new "general information" page?

That's in the FAQ, are you saying it should be repeated on the home/general information page?

Do you still see white? The tones are close, maybe on a Palm they'd be hard to distinguish?

I don't see white. It's all the same cream that it's always been from what I can tell. This is on my PC, not my Palm. I opened an older post and a new as of today post, and the backgrounds are the same color. The background on the board page is all the same color, too. (not sure where the different colors are supposed to show up)

It didn't do it without frames. I can't recall any problems with other sites, though My Yahoo, which I have set for two columns, displays the right column after the left, i.e. all in one very long column.

Thanks for the suggestion, but that's very much a pain. I'd rather just do as I have been. I'm primarily on my desktop anyway. I just rely on the Palm for when I'm away from home.

True. And if I can't see them for whatever reason anyway...

Color?

Maybe my background is lightly 'puplypinkish'? on this posting page. The boxes are white.
The main board pages are all white.
Though I know they have been cream from time to time.
I have never had highlights cept the thread you've read, the type turns maroon.
I on IE and windows XP.
Cream would be nice.
Bit I don't actually really care too much.

Yes Dr. Bob,

Put important info on contacts on the Home page. Don't bury it in the frequently asked questions and rules. Sorting through a bunch of questions and answers is not my favorite task if I am frustrated and need to find something quick.

And yes, the Home page should be somewhat like the general inforamtion page, but I think THAT is where all the psychobabble tips should be. It is too cluttered to put that on every page. How about a simple statement at the top of each board on what that page is for and a link to Home. You can say check out the Home page for links to medications, tests, etc. It IS nice though to be able to see at the top of the page if anyone is in chat.

OH, and the bubble over reveal with the mouse is nice. I use that all the time on Yahoo.

I know that's more common, but if boards list the newest threads first, then to be consistent, shouldn't threads list the newest posts first?

Also, if two threads are on the same topic, I'd rather the earlier one be extended, and displaying it earlier encourages that.

Hmm, so maybe it handles frames by displaying one after another? So the left frame would "autoscroll" all the way to the end and then the right frame would be displayed?

OK, is there anything else you'd consider especially important?

> THAT is where all the psychobabble tips should be. It is too cluttered to put that on every page.

Well, I guess I'm trying to remind people that they're there. Yes, it's kind of cluttered, but it's less cluttered than before, at least? Also, fewer tips would be listed on the other boards.

> It IS nice though to be able to see at the top of the page if anyone is in chat.

At the top rather than at the bottom?

Dr. Bob if the newest answer to the thread was first no one would read the beginning ones that created the whole thread but that's just my opinion. Phillipa ps cause the first ones would be at the bottom. Also sometimes a thread changes direction.

How about this new "outside" color instead? The other was actually more saturated, this one really is just darker. I think I like it better...

Uh, now the whole thing just looks gray and depressing....

WHY do we need the border in a different color? I just don't see the need for that. It is visually unsettling.

Is it maybe a setting I'm using? Because I've never seen any of the color changes discussed here. Main Board is still 100% beige background all over.

well, except that first stark white one - I could see that.

Another thought. IF you really want/need the two tone look just make the top part the different color don't carry it all the way down the side. I think that is what is bugging me the most.

If the different colors don't show up on the board to signify new posts, I'm not sure what the point is. Guess I've been confused about this all along.

The idea is to be more visually *interesting*, to have some more visual variety.

Here's something a bit lighter...

Surely the content of the posts are interesting enough? It would be gilding the lily, or distracting from the lily perhaps, to try to add visual interest to the mentally stimulating.

Admittedly though, as long as the background color doesn't give me a migraine, I don't have that strong feelings about it. I like the current color. But whatever makes Babble more visually interesting to you would be ok with me too. :)

Dr. Bob

I don't think a two tone look will make it any more interesting. It is the CONTENT that matters. Well written content at the lead and interesting subjects will draw people in.

One of the things I like best about this site is that it is not full of glitz. There are days you just don't want sizzle.

Now if you want to make one board flashier to appeal to a different crowd, that is fine. But problems with eye strain and the tendency to migraines makes the creamy yellow look wonderful.
