If what you want to do is support someone more than discuss an issue, just post to whichever board they posted to.

*this is from top of page, what does it mean?

An RSS news feed from this board is at http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/psycho/threads.rdf. This board is available in framed and unframed versions.

**WTF is this?

Don't necessarily believe everything you hear. Your mileage may vary. The only posts I take responsibility for are my own. In a crisis, please also get help in person. It's good to give as well as to receive. What you say may conceivably be used against you. Submitting a message gives me permission to use it as I wish. Please be civil.

*Might be nice to add something bout it NOT wise to give out much personal info to this???...though its in awful small print...

I might not keep that in the revised layout. But the idea is that it's OK to post a follow-up on Psychology (for example) to support someone even though that's not discussing a psychological issue.

On the page itself, "news feed" should be a link that explains (briefly) what one is:

That's the idea of:

In the revised layout (which isn't the default layout yet), it's the same size...

and why its put on the pages?
Isn't it just for newscast for something?
Does it have anything to do w/babble?
Is it an advertising thing?
Don't get it.

Those original feeds were of new threads on specific boards. I've now added feeds of all posts on specific boards, for example:

http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/psycho/posts.rdf

and new threads and all posts on all of Psycho-Babble:

http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/threadz.rdf
http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/postz.rdf

I've also made it possible for some browsers to "autodetect" these. So you may start to see a little orange feed icon in the address bar.

Lord I feel dense, so do the 'feeds' come to email?
I tried clicking on the links but it would not display the webpage....

What happens when you click on a link? Firefox should display it, but other web browsers might not and you might need a separate program. In Firefox you can also make it a "live bookmark", with sub-bookmarks that update automatically.

I installed firefox and newsfeed works on it.
I kinda tried newsfeed and find it rather confusing.
I'm not sure what the benefit of it would be?
I think I'll stick with the boards...
And firefox takes a LONG time to boot.
Thanks though.

I didn't change the subject above, because I'm not clear what is being discussed.

It's very overwhelming for me to follow this post about news feeds to FAQ.

Is any1 else feeling they're sort of out of the loop?

I have been away for over a week, but even so, I don't spend a lot of time on Admin, yet see there is a lot of discussion going on there.

I'm intimidated a bit by changes to the site or discussions of changes to be made to the site.

Is there a chance we could have a section called ...

'NEW (maybe w/ a date) CHANGES TO FAQ' or 'REVISIONS' or 'ADDENDUM'

... near the top of FAQ, so it could be clearly seen?
