I, personally, think it would be a good idea.
Just expressing my opinion.

Yes, this is true. I'm just stating my personal opinion that I think posters who are blocked should be blocked from chat as well.
It has pretty much ruined the chat experience for me. I don't plan to return, not that anybody's going to notice. Sour grapes on my part.CS

...if I get blocked, then I'm not likely to use chat since it's the most triggering place on this site for me.
It's an issue - for me.

Please be sensitive to the feelings of others (such as blocked posters who go to chat) and please don't post anything that could lead them to feel put down.
Perhaps this opinion/suggestion would be best forwarded to Dr. Bob by email or to Admin by using the notify function.
CS, you sound upset, and I wish there was something I could do :-( I also wanted to say about this:
>>I don't plan to return, not that anybody's going to notice
...that I doubt that very much. Your presence is valued anywhere on Babble.

Since this is a substantive issue that many posters might care about, I would hope it would be acceptable to bring it up. CS seemed to state her objection in the most neutral way possible; and since it is an important issue for all of us, who may potentially be blocked, and only have chat as an avenue to connect with babble, I would hope there wouldn't be any reason to keep the discussion private. I guess I would, really, want to have some influence on --and early knowledge of potential reconsideration of--something that matters so much to me.

I guess I thought if someone was blocked from posting, the person was blocked from babble mail and chat too. Is the person still able to babblemail? When I was blocked sometime back, I guess I just assumed I could not babblemail either. I have never logged on to chat.

Blocked posters can receive Babblemail (usually--it can be a little glitchy), but they cannot send it. They can use chat only in room 2.

i don't know what to say hun.
i get blocked all the time. and i sit in chat more than i drink coffee. but, i just love love love talking to you dear.
i know, i know the 'ignore' function. i'm sure you've heard that one before.
i dunno. ignore in combo with private messaging only those you don't find triggering on particular nights when things are rough?
i know (and i'm only speaking from personal experience) there are times i've gone to chat and just didn't feel like sharing/contributing/or even listening. so i sorta cling to certain people i know listen, care and i can trust (which is hard for me, especially to spill my guts when times are hard, you know?) and i get to private messaging...
rude? some may think. but, i'd rather make it through a rough night with pm and a close friend, than get upset and run off feeling worse than when i got there...
(((sexie pie)))) i'd love to see you back in chat dear. and there's a reson the 'ignore' 'private message' and other functions are there, whether it's frowned upon or not. we can't always pretend to be happy, even if we'd really really like to.
woka woka woka...
love ya toots...

oh, sorry about the pbc too. ouchie!

Clearly I'm not in a good place to make reasonable remarks on this subject. More likely to get myself in more trouble, not less.
So it's best for all that I just keep quiet and stay away. I think it has something to do with the volatility of the medium - the immediacy of the messages? - and that ignore feature, well, I'm not going there either.
I think I understand it now. That chat is not a form of online communication that is appropriate for me. And that's a good thing to find out. (Even if I have to learn this over and over again; perhaps it has finally sunk in.)

there is a chat room that excludes blocked posters already :(
people need to connect to each other..no one likes to be totally cut off and i think dr bob realizes the damage "banishing" posters from this site could be..
i am sorry you were hurt...
i have been in chat many times..looking and asking for you.(rather than posting here)
chat make the internet more personal..chat also opens us up to the intire world of voices and opions.
