But no captain.
Hope there's no more pirates.

The captain's been working below decks to shore up leaks and strengthen tools. Perhaps he'll pop up on deck for fresh air and greetings. :)

> or he could come back and i could ask him why Dinah blocked me but didn't block you, gg, when you said a lot more than i did when i was blocked.Actually, it sounds as if asking Dinah would be more effective, since you seem to be wondering about Dinah's chosen actions. I'm not sure Dr. Bob could explain anyone else's reasoning for deciding on an action more accurately or clearly than that person.
Of course, if what you're looking for is clarification about what is and what is not acceptable in posting about Dr. Bob, he's definitely the one to ask that question. And I wish he'd come answer it. It's an important question. A lot of folks weighed in on it. And it's still hanging open.
And of course there's always the notification button. My post was not as a deputy, since I'd already taken leave. It seems to me that would make using the notification button an acceptable method for bringing it to Dr. Bob's attention, should one wish to. I still receive those notifications, so I'll get it too, but that isn't likely to bother me. Or there's always emailing Dr. Bob.

What gardenergirl said was about Dr. Bob, and I explained my stance on that in this post.

I stand by that until I receive different guidance from Dr. Bob.
I did not block you for anything you said about Dr. Bob.

> I did not block you for anything you said about Dr. Bob.Hi Dinah! Towards the common goal of uniformity, he does need to clarify some things. Since that isn’t happening, I looked for his own examples. My recollection about where he stood on posts critical of him was the same as Tofuemmy’s...

> “...In the old days, Bob was open game. We could vent on him without penalty. It was quite cathartic. At some point (a couple years ago I think), he musta gotten fed up and did start blocking people for being uncivil towards him...”
It wasn’t the current recollection of the deputies that something had changed there, although in the post linked to in yours that I’m replying to Dinah you did say...
> “...He has historically been lenient, but not beyond measure....”
Following are a handful of even more recent precedents than alluded to above, for a shift in the magnitude of what flies with him. Taken from a quick look at Admin only, although many times PBCs and blocks first occur elsewhere. I think somewhere he may have been even more specific about his position.
These then must be examples of what was “beyond measure” to Bob. Apparently we’d be safer sticking to more recent examples of how to phrase any complaints about him, but if you or he can help me understand what was more "beyond" about these, please do.

We have actually had communications from him about this, and he has commented on this specific situation. We have asked him to repeat his comments on board, and I trust that he will when he can.
Please don't ask me to repeat what he said, because I might get the specifics wrong. I'd rather he did it himself if you don't mind.
But speculation based on precedent won't be necessary at this point.

I'm not going to try to repeat what Dr Bob had to say, either, because I know I'd get it wrong. And because I know I'd rather speak for myself, so I will give him that chance, too.
But I would like to point out that in all of the posts linked to, the individual who took action was the same. I prefer that Dr Bob decide when to take action on this sort of thing, unless and until he makes quite clear where that line lies.
OK. I'm done now.

>That is true (and for the sake of my own time-management problems I will try to contain any obsessive-compulsive urge to dig for possible examples of others reprimanding for unflattering bob comments lol).
What I'm hoping is that when he does clarify his stance on complaints regarding himself, he doesn't just stop at listing the technicalities of what is and isn't ok ("I statements" as usual and all that). But that he also puts it into perspective with his recent non-action, despite having been brought fully up to speed even in his absence.
Or that he would even just say "Ooops..." Personally I will have much more faith and trust in someone who can just admit they had a lapse in judgment or for whatever reason even chose to have that lapse in judgment. But that they understand that it caused reasonable upset, and will endeavor to be more consistent in the future. Rather than sweeping it under the rug or trying to claim something made sense that just didn't.
(Now watch "Ooops..." -- three dots included of course -- be all that he does say about it. ;)
This is the end of the thread.
