Fox news reported that Brittany Spears was destroying civilization by not wearing underpants.
Seriously.
Will I be banned on Babble for repeating it?
I need a vacation.

Well, it's certainly true that some people consider us conservatives a nasty creepy lot. That they assume we can't be loving or caring or supportive.
Funny thing is that I always considered liberals a caring group of people.
There's a quote from Studio 60 that I'd love to repeat, but can't on civility grounds.
If it's ok with Dr. Bob, I can give the quote to those who might wish to email me at bullyforyou77. That's at yahoo.

Really? I don't know any people like that.I was just quoting from an approved Babble post on politics. I should have included quote marks but they don't seem to show up in titles. I redirected this post from there. Bob has given his blessing apparently to nasty as a civil descriptor. Must say I was a bit surprised but he's the sole judge of what is acceptable here.

> There's a quote from Studio 60 that I'd love to repeat, but can't on civility grounds.Yeah there's lots of things can't be quoted around here but MLK's I Have a Dream speech is back in at least. Since Bob's apparently made his rounds as have various deputies.

To be clear, which Dr. Bob wasn't on board, I asked him about that and he said he considered my post semi-official. It wasn't that it was Bob approved.

I'd heard about this too. But not that she was destroying civilization, just the no underpants thing. I kinda enjoy reading the worst sort of rags with the stories about the divorce from Kevin (isn't that a bit of an odd name? You have Kevins over there? The next PM might be a Kevin. There's a St Kevin's here) because of what she said about the President. But Murdoch will continue to prosper. He's already repositioned himself. He was known as Red Rupert once. Rewarded for every twist and turn.

Bill OReilly. The culture warrior. Likes to decry immorality and show provocative pictures with the naughty parts scrambled but just barely. Lasciviously illustrated stories of all manner of evil he decries.

recent celebrity sighting upset me because they may lead to a change in grooming standards.
I mean, I always do my best to be better groomed than Britney, but I'm not so sure I have the chutzpah.

Please be sensitive to the feelings of others. Even if you're quoting someone else. I think it was clear there that it could lead others to feel accused or put down.
But please don't take this personally, this doesn't mean I don't like you or think you're a bad person.
If you or others have questions about this or about posting policies in general, or are interested in alternative ways of expressing yourself, please first see the FAQ:
http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/faq.html#civil
http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/faq.html#enforceYou might want to consider asking another poster to be your "civility buddy" and to preview your posts before you submit them.
Follow-ups regarding these issues, as well as replies to the above post, should of course themselves be civil.
Thanks,
Bob
PS: According to the current system:
previous block: 1 week
period of time since previous block: 12 weeks
uncivil toward a particular individual or group: yes
particularly uncivil: no
different type of incivility: no
clearly didn't understand PBC and made effort to reply: no
provoked: no
uncivil in multiple posts at same time: no
already archived: noIf we take 12 weeks, divide by 10, and round, that's a reduction of 1 week. If we apply that to your previous block, that takes you back to 0. And if we go from there, that's 1 week.

In Australia there are no conservative political commentators who are really good.
There are some who are OK.
But the really educated and smart ones are kinda lefties.
The only exception I can think of is Owen Harries.

Bob you didn't call it uncivil so how would I know? It wasn't clear to me. And it obviously wasn't clear to you that I was objecting to your apparent decision to allow nasty to be used describing conservative politics. Why do you think I redirected this to admin? Sigh........And the title of my post "N*st* Conservative Politics" was used subsequently by an administratress thereby further diminishing the clarity of your decision. Perhaps you might state for all time that such words are not acceptable for any poster? We aren't mindreaders here Bob.
But I do apologize for invoking Miss Brittany and her female arrangement in a public discussion.

Please clarify when deputies thoughts and questions are semi-official.
http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/poli/20061123/msgs/710497.html
What indicates that this is semi-official?> To be clear, which Dr. Bob wasn't on board, I asked him about that and he said he considered my post semi-official. It wasn't that it was Bob approved.

Wasn't this also a semi-official post on the part of the deputy? In which case my block was an error on your part since the deputy gave the word n*st* her semi-official nod of approval by using it herself? If not,why not?
Please consider defining semi-official posts.
Are all deputy posts semi-official? Can a deputy post without knowing her post is semi-official?That kind of goes around your rule that deputies all ways have a choice to act or not doesn't it?
