If you posted something you may probably have something like a personality.

I'm on two minds about it, because people need the freedom to change names, if they want, without revealing their identity, until or unless they're ready.

At the same time, when a new name appears, and the person isn't new, or seems very plugged in with lots of people and discussions, I wonder if it's someone whose posts I've read, but now I'm either less interested in getting to know them, or less available for a new person, because I think the "old person" still exists.

Also, people may feel it's transparent that it's them-- when it isn't. It's hard to know, unless someone gives lots of specific references to past discussions, who anyone new-named is.

So I also hope people will identify themselves here with old and new names. (Thanks, CS, I thought I noticed that that was you-- but I'm glad it's clarified.)

Honore

Your user name is beautiful.

Unless u fear someone may be trying to uncover your identity ... pls don't chg. I wish I'd not felt the need to do so. Butt, I did. I can always go back at some time if things change.

For me it's about caring......

I get to care about specific 'people'.

If I don't see them posting for a long time, I can worry about how they're doing.

It can feel like losing an old friend.

Am I pathetic? I have IRL friends too, but truly care about people here.

or feeling unsettled when there's a person who says they're posting under a new name & you don't know who it is?

I think, for me it feels like if people in my life began to wear masks & their voices were different & they were still in my life, but I didn't know it was THEM.....& I might really miss them (their personality) or wonder if they were OK.

Maybe I have BIGGIE abandonment issues or something???!!!! :'))
