Civility and Kindness

If more of kindness was involved in civility, it might not be so much of a problem.

I agree maybe if someone is extemly depressed a deputy could babblemail and try and find out the problem and calm them down in a kind way. Not say deputies or Bob aren't kind. But it would be in private. What do you think of this Declan. Love PJ

unfortunately civility doesn not necessarily include kindness or truth.....this site has shown that many times.

your statement is good, we agree in theory but cannot see how it would enter practice here. sigh.

Most people here are very kind, and that is why I come. Sometimes civility and kindness more or less coincide and sometimes not.

(Zeugma's near half year block for saying what many believe to be true and no one is surprised, offended or hurt to hear would fall into the second category.)

I know you can't legislate for kindness.

Remember when I was going off the deep end (under my other name) and could not even remember that I was contradicting myself with posts and then people got pissed at me and I got pissed back; I can't even bear to look at the posts now. Remember Dr. Bob blocked me for a week. I was upset about it, but it helped. I emailed him about it and what was going on with me, and he emailed me back which I did not expect and said nice things. So, I don't know. It is rather public, but then if one wasn't blocked and someone just emailed the person, that could start an escalating bad situation via email. So, my vote would be to keep things as is.

Wow I didn't know Zeugma was blocked for half a year! That does seem a tad harsh.

I've often wondered about this. I mean, civility and kindness. Obviously the two aren't mutally exclusive...

I like the civility rules here. I don't have any problems with them whatsoever.

I imagine we're all sitting at a big round table drinking tea from cups and saucers and eating cucumber sandwiches. Civilly, of course.

Kind regards

Meri

I think it may have been 20 weeks or so.

Tea and cucumber sandwiches? Sounds very nice.
