When did the ads get expanded to the whole site? The one on the bottom of the psych board I found particularly distracting and tacky-looking. I don't mind the Google ads at all because I don't particularly notice them, but I really don't like the picture one. I really think it cheapens the feeling of the board. I suppose it's ok if necessary, though. Just please please please no pop-ups!!

That's a good question. I skimmed the original thread....
http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/admin/20060918/msgs/691190.htmland I don't see any discussion or notice from Dr. Bob about going to all boards, but it's long and maybe I missed it, or it's somewhere else.
I never noticed, 'cause I never see them on any board. You know you can turn them off, right? Click 'Hide ads' at the bottom of your page and they will disappear the next time. It will stay that way unless you click 'Show ads'
I'm almost afraid to ask, but what was the tacky picture a picture of? (nice grammar!)

Click where it says to hide ads next time, and when you log off and log on again, the ads will be gone.

Just close the browser window after clicking the hide ads button. Then open a new browswer window and when you go to Babble, the ads will be hidden (unless that changed, too).

They're all supposed to be text ads, but for some reason a picture one sneaks in sometimes. Sorry about that,
Bob
