problems with site jamming up?

Posted by wishingstar on January 31, 2007, at 20:14:52

I think this may be a problem with my computer, not the site, but I'm not sure.

I've been having a lot of problems with the site jamming up (I do 'ctrl alt dlt' to get it to close) when I try to open a new thread to read it. There for awhile it seemed to happen on all the boards, then just admin for awhile, and now it seems to be happening mostly on social. It seems that once I have a thread open, I can read through the responses and not have a problem, at least most of the time. Has anyone else had this problem?

It started right around the time I let my computer download the update for internet explorer - the new version, whatever it is. (Can you tell I'm not a computer expert?) I think it may be related to that. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix it? I'd never had any problems before.

Thanks.

Wishingstar,

I have had similiar problems and it almost always is on Psychobabble not other sites. I have had to do a hard cut off sometimes to close. It has been very frustrating. And yes, I, too updated Internet Explorer

Glad to know it's not just me... it does sound like it must be related to internet explorer. I liked the old one better! It also very rarely happens to me on any other site.

When I first downloaded it, I had another issue with the browser giving errors whenever I closed it out, but I downloaded some patch for it and it fixed that problem. Maybe theyll figure out what's going on with this soon.

I'm sorry you're having problems. If you hear about it being fixed, or what exactly the issue is, I'd appreciate it if you'd post something. Thanks,

Bob

Will do.

A second issue has started recently. About 1/3 of the time, if I click the link to a thread off the actual board (as opposed to a response within a thread I have open), nothing happens. The link will turn purple, as it does whenever I view something, but nothing opens. I know it's not a pop-up blocker problem because it works 2/3 of the time. I really dont get it.

If you have any thoughts on that, please let me know. I'll post if I find a way to fix any of this.

Thanks.

Nevermind...

I got fed up with it and just deleted internet explorer 7.0 and went back to the old version. I dont really care which I use, and now that I'm back on the old one, the problem seems to be fixed.

Still having problem!

Well, I didn't delete Internet Explorer 7 yet, and I am STILL having problems. Things just froze on me and I had to re-boot. After opening one or two messages on this site nothing else would open.

Sorry, I wish I knew what the problem was.
