I would like to respectfully offer my perspective. I believe Dr Hsuing to be acting as a human being at all times.

He can't post the URL because that would be uncivil under site guidelines.
Dr. Bob won't talk about posters, because he just wouldn't do that.
The police are not called for violation of site civility guidelines.

I understand. Dr. Bob had done the same to (for) me a few years back.
It can seem like it is an invasion of your privacy, but this is an internet site so any information you give is available to everybody.
In hindsight, Dr. Bob may be saving lives by letting somebody know if somebody is at risk to themselves or others.
I know it can seem harsh when you get contacted by people who are wondering if you are going to hurt yourself, but I'm sure the policy has saved lives so I am not angry.

Actually, if you said anything at all that suggested you were suicidal and/or might hurt somebody else, he may have been ethically required to do something about it.
As far as the police getting involved, that's probably standard operating procedure in such cases in Belgium. It certainly is here in the states.
Besides, what's wrong with trying to help?
Hope I didn't overstep myself here. I know that for myself, whenever I suggested suicide, the people treating me became VERY proactive.
I'm not thinking that way now, BTW.

I think what Dr. Bob meant by "directly" was to ask the original poster himself in a followup message here on the forum.The poster to whom Dr. Bob was replying did not do that; instead, he/she was asking Dr. Bob. That may be why Dr. Bob used "directly" in the context of what's going on here.
Also, read the statement of policy by Dr. Bob as quoted by "tofuemmy". The "danger" clause is what justified his intervention. That's probably the "ethical" connection I was talking about in my first post here.
