Please allow posters to request blocking.
Since you have an automated system why would you object? It would cause no work for you. I think the community would benefit:)
Thank you

>I mean just a request that Bob block the poster from posting for a specific time. Like I could ask to be blocked for 3 months and he would set the blocking timer for 3 months for me.

No need for making changes to the system. Just go on the politics board and say something bad about the president :-)
warm regards, Jake

zazenduck, I am in the mood to get blocked. but I'm a goody goody, and too scared to do it to myself. What if we simultaneously post things that are mean about each other. (grin!)
you know I think you're a peachy duck, but sometimes we just have to take the law into our own hands.
you game?

I second your request.
You are a very civil duck, on many levels. No one should be forced to act against their nature to get blcoked. I'm all for voluntary babble break blocks.

Perhaps Dr. Bob is worried that there will be a lot of reregistering under a different name to post while self blocked. And since it's self blocking I doubt he'd sanction the poster for posting while blocked. Perhaps he worries that confusion would ensue.
Does anyone have any suggestions, if that is indeed his worry?
Or maybe he thinks this way teaches self control?
Perhaps he could chime in.

i shall begin a file on her at once for future use
i am afraid to use george bush might be Americanist. we are aftre all not the centre of the univrese.
that perhaps the tenro of the conversation might be widened by looking elsewhere for an objet d'incivility
but thanks awfully for the offer

But why? I think many people who reregister while blocked do it because they believe Bob's blocks to be either unfair or irrelevant. If a poster requested the block it would be fair. Posters who believe Bob's blocks to be irrelevant (Dr Bob is quite Kohlburg fourish don't you think?) might find their own more relevant.
And since it's self blocking I doubt he'd sanction the poster for posting while blocked. Perhaps he worries that confusion would ensue.>

I think it would serve the best interests of the community. I think it would reduce tension on the board at times.

It's possible to block oneself:
http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/social/20040725/msgs/370201.html
http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/admin/20041109/msgs/420772.htmlMy concern is that if someone's blocked, they won't have access to this potential source of support.

I understand, and I respect that reason. Thanks for explaining.

That makes sense.
Thank you for explaining your reasoning.
-llrrrppsorry that I try to use the Admin board to punish myself. It's not really fair to administrators (or myself, for that matter) who work hard so that disturbed llrrrpp has online support.
This is the end of the thread.
