I've been posting for several months using a different name.

If I'm not mistaken, there is no requirement to state the old name when changing names. Sometimes, there are good reasons, including safety and security concerns, for not stating the old name. I guess this is up to Dr. Bob, but I don't think anyone should be pressed to broadcast their old name. I'm assuming that if they haven't stated the old name voluntarily, they probably don't want to announce it.

I don't want to say. I've revealed way too much personal stuff about myself under my old posting name. Even though I realize they stay in archives forever, I suppose I'm hoping someone might think that poster just disappeared off the face of the earth.I'm going to try to be more careful this time around.

I know there is no requirement to do so, but I appreciate when people DO tell us. I just feel weird about knowing that there is a person who knows all of MY past history here and past posts, but I'm not allowed to know THEIRS. --But I'm not saying that to try and goad anyone into telling their old name if they don't want to. I'm just saying how it makes me feel.
Not a really big deal. I mean, I don't REALLY care. It's just my point of view!
Berberis, I welcome the new you. I hope you enjoy the new name!

I understand, but you have the right to change your posting name if you want to. Let's face it, people post on these forums using unique posting names (most often not their true names) because they WANT to be anonymous.
