Dr. Bob, exactly how many people get no replies on their first post?
For that matter, how many posts go unanswered, broken down by board? I've seen very few unanswered posts on Psychology, and very few on Social. Especially from newcomers or infrequent posters.

Especially from newcomers or infrequent posters. Those are good questions. And important statistics. In July 2002, I did a little survey of (just plain) Psycho-Babble. The first 100 posts fell into 39 threads, 4 of which were "dead ends".
Another aspect of statistics like these is that they could be used to compare different boards. Or the same board before and after a change in policy (regarding, for example, designated greeters).
