The Dr Bob And Lou Pilder Situation

Posted by Nickengland on June 18, 2005, at 13:54:18

Hello there :-)

I just wondered what peoples thoughts are on the Dr Bob and Lou Pilder situation of this board?

I orignally came to this board for a technical issue and was extreamly surprised with the other administration issues present here...but I guess problems have to be solved somewhere and Administration is a good board for this :-)

Back to the Dr Bob and Lou Pilder situation... this appears to be taking up nearly half of the page and from what I can see is an on-going situation that is increasing from the looks of things. Im curious what people think about the high volume of correspondence steming from this and the topic dominating this board? - When I say "topic" I don't mean each indivdidual post copied for Dr Bob, rather the nature of the messages that are written.

I did try to ask Lou about his posts to Dr Bob, but it appears he ignored my message but took the time to send it to Dr Bob for evaluation. (I'm just stating facts here, this is by no means of any trouble starting or offense to anyone)...Is it me? or is Lou just here to correspond with only Dr Bob and only correspond with the other members of this site, indirectly, by taking posts of other people to Dr Bob for evaluation?

Like I say, I'm just interested to know peoples thoughts on this bearing in mind this topic takes up such a high proportion of this board, is on-going and increasing in its nature.

I do appologise Lou in advance if this post has caused you any offense, I did try to get you're thoughts on this situation though and you didn't reply but forwarded my message to Dr Bob etc..

Likewise to Dr Bob, I am not trying to be uncivil with this post in any way. I'm just trying to asitain where this topic is heading? For me personly, if its on-going and its not really heading no-where as such (apart from Lou's answers to you're questions regarding others posts) then I have no quarms or cercerns, only that it does appear to take up a high percentage of the board, and is possibly rising?

If you feel you want to copy this message and it send to Dr Bob, feel free to do so Lou :-)

Kind regards & look forward to hearing from others :-)

Nick

Lou's response to aspects of this thread-ptontril?

Friends,
It is written here,[...The Dr. Bob and Lou Pilder situation...],[...he {ignored } my message...], [...is Lou just here to corrospond only with Dr. Bob...and others indirectly...?], [...takes up such a high proportion...].

I am requesting that if you are going to contribute to this thread that I do not feel that this is a one-person issue here.
I believe that there are other posters that have posted that they think that this "situation" is supportive to them.
Also, I would like for anyone to know that I am not ignoring any ones posts to me, but I feel that sometimes if there is potential accusations toward me that it could be better for the community as a whole to not respond so that any aspect of a potential confrontation could be avoided.
Also, as far as any one thinking that[... I {only} corrospond with Dr. Hsiung...and others {indirectly}, could you make your own determination concerning if I do or do not by looking in the archives here?
Lou

Hi Lou

Thanks for replying :-)

>but I feel that sometimes if there is potential accusations toward me that it could be better for the community as a whole to not respond so that any aspect of a potential confrontation could be avoided.

Perhaps further confrontation could be avoided if you used that idea with the posts you make to Dr Bob, specifically the..

Dr. Hsiung,
I am requesting that you make a determination as to if the following is acceptable or not in relation to the guidlines of the forum?

If you was not to perhaps post this type of message then i'm sure the potenial for confrontation could be greatly reduced on this board...

I did look into the archives and yes I did see that you do post in Faith too. The large majority of your posts are in Administration and of the above nature though.

This is a supportive site, and with the nature of your posts you say they are supportive to other people, I dont doubt that isn't the case.

Indirectly though, they may appear to be un-supportive too (although this may not be your agenda) in some respects it could possibly be civil, if you was to ask permission of the poster, if its ok for you to copy "their" message to run past Dr Bob and so to avoid any bad feeling?

Overall Lou, if you're maybe suffering from obessive compulsive disorder (and maybe this is being left un-treated or misdiagnosed) I would think that this kind of repetitive behaviour could be doing you're mental condition more harm than good. As this is a supportive site for people with mental difficulties, I would hate to think someone was coming on here and making their condition possibly worse, rather than better..I'm sure Dr Bob being a medical doctor would agree...

Would you feel comfortable talking about your diagnosis and/or medications you are taking to treat it and any success you are having on some of the others boards?

Kind regards

Nick

If you are saying above that my posts are not supportive to some others, then what about the posts here that people write to say that they are?

No I havent asked. But any medical doctor generally speaking would prefer someone to be relieved from suffering, rather than continuing to suffer.

Would you be open to answering any of my suggestions/questions from my previous message now that I have answered your questions?

What I mean by repetitive, is by keep asking the same question over and over and over again.

My thoughts:

I notice a trend (not all the time, keep in mind every "rule" has an exception) to the posting.

On the threads where there is a question by Lou and an answer by Dr. Bob the thread trends towards 3-5 posts.

On the threads where others join in - usually in a well intentioned attempt to help out a third poster - the threads get much longer.

Of course, this is just what I've noticed and thought of - and I could be completely wrong.

I suspect this trend could also become evident in other contexts if circumstances allowed. I think I'll try to see that pattern develop elsewhere, just for grins.
