Question for all: What can PB do for you?

Posted by Shy_Girl on May 20, 2005, at 16:57:39

Hello everyone

I thought it might be interesting to get a feel for how PB has helped different people,in order to better support one another.

What do people want to see more of at PsychoBabble?
For example: More small talk to ease tension, more emotional support, intelluctual discussions, facts and information etc.

It would be interesting to know how many people feel that supporting others makes them feel better themselves.

Shy_Girl,
You wrote about supporting others. Could you explain what your idea of support is?
Lou

Shy Girl, Yes I find support here, especially on PBabble. I receive many E-mails from others. When I have posted negatively, someone always Babbles me to see if I'm okay. Again I say that the people here seem to care more about me than my own family. Fondly, Phillipa

Hmmm...I guess there are many definitions of what "support" actually is. Well, to me, I suppose support means answering other people's questions, providing information, advice, constructive criticism, cheering people up when they are down, being there to listen to other's concerns and just posting things that could be helpful to the community...things people might learn or benefit from. :-)

S_G,
You wrote,[...providing infomation...]as one aspect of your idea as to what support is.
Then in your opinion, if one restrains another here from providing infomation, would that mean, according to your idea of support, that the person doing the restraining could be acting in a non-supportive manner?
Lou

Lou that's exactly what I said! It must be the way a man processes information. The feeling that "What can I do to fix it". Women want to talk about it to just vent at times. No I'm not trying to say men or women are better or anything like that. Just that Maybe we "hear" and "read" things a bit differently. Fondly, Phillipa

Wow Lou, you sure are making me think! :-)
Hmmmm...I suppose in the above case that the nature of the information might be important to consider. If the information being provided falls within the civility guidelines, then I suppose yes, the restriction of that information may be less than supportive.
