Lou's request to Dr. Hsiung-potantisem?

Posted by Lou Pilder on February 20, 2005, at 14:58:31

Dr. Hsiung,
I am requesting that you write a determination if the following is acceptable on the faith forum or not. I feel that,IMO, the statements in question have the potential to arrouse antisemitic feelings. The poster writes,[...The {ONLY} church a person {must} be a member of is the Church of The Lord Jesus Christ...].
and
[....the {fact} that he was God in the flesh...].
and,
[...he that believeth not the Son [{shall) not see life]; but the {wrath of God abideth on him}...].

Lou,

I've been watching that thread, expecting this to happen any moment.

While, what the guy said is more likely outside the rules for the Faith board, I believe that youi goaded him into this answer. You questioned him repeatedly until he had to be alot more blunt in his answer than I think he was planning to be.

Lou, I understand that you like to make sure everything written here is within the rules, but in this case, I think you pushed a little to hard on someone and almost forced them to break the rules.

Nikki

nikkit2,
You wrote,[...you {goaded} him...].
It is not my intention here to goad people.
I have emailed Dr. Hsiung with my requests for intersession in regards to these types of posts that IMO have the potential to arrouse antisemitic feelings. Without intercession from the moderator via email, the administrative board is available to post my requests for intersession.
I feel that the statement by the poster,[...he that beliveth not the Son [shall] not see life, but the {wrath of God abideth on him}....]has the potential to arrouse antisemitic feelings and I am requesting that Dr. Hsiung address the post so that others will not have the potential to think that the forum endorses the statement.
As a jew, I see life and I do not feel or think that the statement by the poster,[... the wrath of God abideth on him ...] is appropriate on a mental health forum of diverse people and I feel that I could offer the poster an opportunity ot in some way explaine the post so that perhaps the potential for IMO the post to arrouse antisemitic feelings could be avoided. DR. Hsiung has requested rephrasing and revising of posts in a similar manner by asking the poster to take out from a post or revise a statement. I was hoping that my request to the poster could accomplish something like that also.

nikkit2,
You wrote,[...you pushed...almost forced them to break the rules...].
It is not my intention to push people or to force anyone here to do anything, but to give them the opportunity to address their own post in regards to what IMO the post could purport in order that there be an opportunity to prevent , in this case in question, the potential for antisemitic feelings IMO to be arroused.
The statement that [...he that beliveth not the Son {shall} not see life, IMO has the potential to create a hostile environment to those that are jewish and others that {...beliveth not the Son...}. The other part of the statement in question,[... but the {wrath of God} abideth on him...] IMO has that potential also but could involve something else that I will write about in a separate post.

nikkit2,
You wrote,[...you like to make sure evrything written here is within the rules...].
The poster wrote in the post in question,[...the {fact} that he was God in the flesh...].
The poster is presenting his/her faith as {fact} which IMO is aginst the rules of the faith forum. I feel that IMO that if that statement is not addressed ,that it could mean that the forum endorses that it is a fact, and not an article of faith, and thearfore have the potential IMO, to put down jews and others that do not think that it is a fact that he was God in the flesh.

Sorry, but please don't post anything that could lead others to feel accused.

If you or others have questions about this or about posting policies in general, or are interested in alternative ways of expressing yourself, please see the FAQ:

http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/faq.html#civil

Follow-ups regarding these issues, as well as replies to the above post, should of course themselves be civil.

Thanks,

Bob
