Jai....two ways to link to a specific post....

If you reply to the exact post you want to draw attention towards, note that just below the bold lettering at the top of the page "Enter your post" is a pulldown menu. Clicking on the arrow at the right of the "Board" line lets you change the default from the board you're on to another one. When you do that, say to select Administration instead of Grief, your post will show up here instead of there. Embedded in the header of your new post is a direct link back to the one you're replying to.

Alternatively, you will find the URL for the specific post you wish to draw attention to at the very bottom of that post.....way way down, the very last line on the entire page. Here it is, for the post you wanted attention for:

URL: http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/grief/20040811/msgs/404029.html

I will email the whole thing to Bob. That's another option. In the subject line, say something like "Babble suicide emergency", to get his attention. The more different ways you approach this, the better.

This is news to me, from the perspective of telling Dr Bob if we think someone is suicidal. This post is only for clarification, and is in no way meant to be challenging.

I may well also have misunderstood- apologies in advance.

Is there something particular we expect Dr Bob to do?

How do we identify which posts to pass on? I can see the desperation in this one, but suicidal thoughts are quite common?

I'd love to be wrong....

Thanks for making sure I saw that. And Lar, thanks for explaining, and for the email.

If there's serious danger, I can notify the person's Internet service provider and ask them to ask the local police to check on them:

Also, posting here may alert other posters who may then be able to be supportive.

Thank you for that clarification- I clearly hadnt read all the FAQ. (That must put you in a difficult situation sometimes).

Sounds like the rest of us should also look out for the posts that are alerted that way, so we know of someone who particularly needs supportive posts. I appreciate the expertise of the posters who pick up on such messages. I'm not sure I could tell, since so many of us express such thoughts without actually being at high risk.

I am a bit worried about kellyr (see http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/social/20041016/msgs/404404.html) but she is seeing her pdoc on Thurs. So I'm guessing that wouldnt fit.

By the way, your message that I am replying to is an example of one that was blank the first time I tried to open it- but this time I got in the 2nd time I tried (from the main page, not going in to a message and then clicking via the thread). Dont bother spending any time on this- I do get into the posts one way or another!
