I am sad about all the upheaval....so what about you?
Is this just an interesting experiment or more?
I hope that this site continues. How many people have you seen come and go...with anger?
I am sad.
I am not leaving.
but I am sad.

Jai, please don't be discouraged. It's the dynamics of this place - for some people. it's a stop along the way to healing, for others a place to stay because we finally feel we belong.
From what I can gather, Babble has grown substantially since it started, so of course there will be change.
I'se stayinng put.

Jai,
I've seen storms come and go since I first discovered Babble in 2000 and started posting in 2001. I only recently came back after a hiatus.
I'm still trying to figure out cyber-communication. I tend to avoid even trying to have a "relationship" this way. There's so much room for mis-communication. Every wrong word, every step, every misstep is so exaggerated.
Sometimes I don't even know I'm in an "argument". For me, it's more about sharing views, sharing perspective. It's like going through an art museum and sharing what you see.
There's no right or wrong, no debate. When someone tells us Paul Klee's "Sinbad the Sailor" looks like a bowl of fruit, we wouldn't say, "I disagree".
It would be so nice if people just appreciated each others' perspectives. Instead, of "I disagree", it could be, "wow, I hadn't looked at it that way".
I'm learning to be more careful about the metaphors and analogies I use. I went off on a tangent about "The Caine Mutiny" that caused one poster to feel like they were in a "gladitorial arena". I'm sorry it gets that way.
There really isn't much to disagree about in the end. We are all looking at different parts of the same elephant.

Hi Jai. I too am sad about all the conflict and misunderstandings and miscommuications.
It is good to know that sometimes the boards get like this, but that it does get better.
I am so grateful that this site is here. And for the people I have met, and opinions I read, and for the support and care that is demonstrated at times.
Sometimes a corporation is treated as a person for legal purposes, though, of course a corporation is made up of lots of individuals. I wonder whether babble is similarly a person. I wonder whether babble is harboring a lot of intense feelings of anger and hostility and depression and sadness.
hope and care and support will prevail - I have faith.

I wouldn't feel too bad.
I hope that I didn't come across as invalidating your emotions - I know how hard I can find it when they are intense. It is easy enough to be objective and thoughtful and careful and civil when one isn't in the grip of intense emotions.
In my case, when the emotions hit, everything goes out the window, however.
I hope that you are feeling better about the boards etc. now. And I really hope that I didn't say anything to add to your distress or invalidate your hurt.
Yours respectfully
(I think newwife is a lovely name)
