Posted by owenus32 on August 2, 2004, at 22:28:56

I am showing up on google searches and I defintley do not want that. Is there any way that Dr Bob I or the administration can delete my posts? If I "resign" will they disappear and be erased? Please help

Can you tell me why don't you want your posting name showing up on Google searches? Feel free to respond by email instead of posting if you prefer. Nothing's automatically erased, and I don't like to delete posts. Please remember that what you post is public:

Well, I knew it was public but what I failed to realize is that if someone put my yahoo screename into google I come talking about my meds and AA and etc. This is fine if people stumbled into this board but I didn't want to be googleable, If I simply change my name on yahoo and or on here it'll be less easy. Beside when you put in my first name you don't see my posts so it's ok.

Hmm, I guess it wouldn't hurt to be more explicit about that. I've added the below to the FAQ:

> Please understand that if information is public, it may be linked to by search engines. In fact, this site itself uses Google Search.

> What you post is public, as public as if you put it up on an old-fashioned bulletin board in a supermarket. *Maybe even more so, since there aren't supermarket bulletin board search engines.*

Change it on Yahoo, since changes aren't retroactive here. I'm glad it'll be OK. Best wishes,

Bob
