Sometimes the notifications come hours later than they are supposed to. However, the only time I have ever completely not received one was when my maiibox filled up and Babble "deactivated" it.
You will know if/when that happens because you won't be able to post again without updating your registration.
Hopefully your test has given you the information you were after.
