It's fine to give others feedback as long as its constructive. Or just to keep your reaction to yourself. I'm sorry you felt wounded, but two wrongs don't make a right.

IMHO: Sometimes a little reality therapy is just what is needed. What if all we did was go around and make people feel "supported" and "accepted" ? It seems to me that that is part of the problem in this post-moderan society. We have children who have never really grown up because they have gone through life, school etc, getting their "self-esteem" protected or reinforced. One does not need to be cruel; the facts can be presented in a positive way. Will it be non-"threatning ?" Maybe, maybe not. We all have to learn to, as a popular saying goes --"DEAL WITH IT"

It's fine to give others feedback as long as its constructive. Would you consider it a form of "reality therapy" to be blocked from posting? That does happen in some cases...

Don't people already have enough of it to deal with? IMO, they don't need more of it here.

that seems to have become optional ;) I don't see any point in voluntarily banning myself anymore since it's become just a suggestion. It was never very enforcable anyway. I hope the others in the gulag will recieve their pardons or whatever.....if they want to come back. I must say I'm a little baffled by our Bob. But that's the price of unreality I spose...........Thanks for remembering me. you were a big help at the time of my first departure from the board!!

I DO hope the above is not intended as a threat!
Yes blocking is a form of confronting honestly.> > Will it be non-"threatning ?" Maybe, maybe not. We all have to learn to, as a popular saying goes --"DEAL WITH IT"

> BobOf course. I realize that it is an individual thing. Not every one can tolerate honesty. Which by the way, is probably the word I should have used instead of "reality therapy".
I have a reputation as "a tough old broad", but in fifteen years of practice, I have never had a client terminate because of my being honest.
I shall attempt to be judicious in further posts. I was addressing the over-done "self-esteem" business as an issue in our whole society/culture. I shall attempt to be judicious in further posts. MB
