Looks like California to me, but maybe I just lack imagination.

If we're going west of Italy I'd vote for Portugal or Spain. But Morocco sounds good too. I'm trying to decide exactly what D.Bob's head is blocking -- a mosque, cathedral or just a fancy steeple building. Morocco's got some hills and laid out cities.......but more southerly, I think

Istanbul or someplace else in Turkey?? (nm)

Spain. The building was supposed to be in the background, unblocked, to make it clear where it was, but I misplaced my head. :-)

Did you get your hands on some maracas?
There are lots of asses there , hardy and sure-footed animals used to carry stuff, the tacky shops sell miniture asses made from real ass hair.

I've been known to have "misplaced my head" too(lately in life more often than in pictures). It's way to easy to do!!! Were you using a tripod?

I haven't made it to Spain or Portugal yet but hope to do so in retirement. If you have ever been to Sienna, the villages look the same as the ones in your picture.
