Dr. Bob - Cool Amazon thing in posting area

Is that new? Or have I been oblivious for a while?

Hello...

I've been oblivious but that's nothing new- but this framed thing is.
Two screens and scroll please without relish.

What's this Amazon thing , is it the rainy season there?...I'd like to chill with the cheeky monkeys.
I know ...Mr Hsiung never replies to my post :-(
Although maybe a little pecky kissy always makes him smile??
kissy-----with a tongue----how daring.

Has this always been here?

'The left frame holds the main page, which has the links to the posts, the right frame, the posts themselves (and this message).

I think this way it's easier to go back and forth'.
I can think of other ways ;-)

Give it up Slinky he just doesn't love thee...
BOOOOOOOO!HOOOOOOOOO!

By using this link.. http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/babble.html I always have two frames.. left one with list of posts, the right one with the message I've clicked on, or the posting boc I'm typing in.. been doing it this way atleast 2 years or more..

If you use double quotes when you compose a post, an extra section appears under the "enter your post" section asking you if you intended to link to a book at Amazon, and checking which book you want to link to.

Try doing a post with double quotes, then check under the submit your post box.

I'm trying to figure out if that's always been there.

Dinah, I think unless you page down PAST the submit your post thingy (or confirm your post), you'll get the list of possible links to books in Amazon. It was always there, it's just that when you're used to paging down no further than your own post, you wouldn't think to look there. A major drawback (for me, slow learner) is that if you list more than one book, and there a few choices for each title you put in double quotes, you have to hit submit several times (if Amazon doesn't choose "correctly" for you), and I'm never sure I'm doing it right... It's a little, shall we say, counter-intuitive? I usually beg forgiveness, though, and no one's that bothered...

best,

Wendy

What I meant was:
unless you page down you WON'T see the list of books from Amazon.
Didn't phrase that quite right...
(I'm tired...)

I just noticed the link on the bottom of the page of posts that allows you to go to the framed version yesterday. Have I been going thru contortions to get there all this time for nothing?

The versions using frames have been around -- and in the FAQ:

http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/faq.html#frames

-- for a long time, but I only added those links in April. Because someone wanted a (less contorted) way to get there from the links in the notification emails.
