Dr Bob - why do you block people? Other qstns

Posted by ace on May 4, 2003, at 21:06:19

I want to know the rationale here.

Many, many people on this board have extensive psychopharmacological insights.

Last time you blocked me - for abusing a person who abused me FIRST (they didn't get blocked) - I was in dire need of anectodal reports on a certain drug.

Also, is it possible you might ever allow the 's' word. I agree, the 'f' word is a bit too much, but if it's censored shouldn't it be OK. These words wonderfully express emotion.

Also, can I ask you - Do cuss words offend YOU?

Sometimes thay do me, so I know what you mean.

In regard to your latest warning, I have been very upset and hurt since I saw it. I used the 'a' word which refers to buttox - BUT I CENSORED IT.

You said a I might offend others - The poster above said she found my use of word (in context) great and funny. I brightened her.

What I'm saying is this: I believe the restrictions on the 'a' and 's' words antiquated - BUT IT IS YOUR DECISION YOUR SITE. I ASSUME YOU DO WANT PEOPLE ON YOUR SITE AND FEEDBACK. I will obey your rules.

BTW DR. BOB, I really want to know your opinion of psychiatrists. As I've stated before I think the vast majority are horrid and vile. I say this because I have been on the recieving end of horrid and vile treatment. I have seen negligence again and again. And I am not stupid. I'm about to enter medicine and 2 of my family members are psychiatrists. These 2 are not nice. They laugh at their patients behind their back, and one sleeps with one, and both are on AD drugs. I will expose the mistreatment I've endured as much as possible. That being said one shrink was the most lovely, warm, caring and fatherly man. He eminated wisdom and warmth. He was the only normal one out of around 12 I've seen (oh, there was 1 more good one)

BTW, if it is not appropriate to ask qstns here or of the above nature I'm sorry. I am clueless. All I ever do is go to the med site.

So,I am sorry, if i've done something wrong.

Please don't block me but warn me.

Ace

What's going on Dr. Bob

Posted by ace on May 4, 2003, at 21:43:51

It seems you targeted everyone of my posts. Warning me again and again for such bad things as uing cuss words.

What's the go man? I couldn't see this happen nowhere near as much to anyone else.

But seriously, do people hardly ever use cuss words - I've seen 'em and most people on this site you'd expect to be over 18 y/o,

But did you target me, cause I indeed was the only ones you saw with cuss words?

Sorry for all the rply as qstns - I'm all over the place due to Nardil W/drawal. I'm a wacky guy Dr. Bob. Even though I study all highbrow topics at uni I communicate in a 'out there' way. Thats just me.

Dont worry - I'll lay off the cuss words.

Just don't block me - too traumatic for too many on this site to see me away for a week. Suicide rates for people on this site increast GREATLY during the 2 week ban I last had!!!!

See, I just can't help being silly!

Take Care,

Ace.

Yes, it's possible I might.

> Also, can I ask you - Do cuss words offend YOU?

No, they don't. But not everybody feels the same way about things as I do.

> In regard to your latest warning, I have been very upset and hurt since I saw it. I used the 'a' word which refers to buttox - BUT I CENSORED IT.

I'm not sure what you mean, you censored it. Can you explain, with a link to the specific post?

> You said a I might offend others - The poster above said she found my use of word (in context) great and funny. I brightened her.

Yes, she found it funny, but you might offend others.

> I ASSUME YOU DO WANT PEOPLE ON YOUR SITE AND FEEDBACK.

Yes.

> BTW DR. BOB, I really want to know your opinion of psychiatrists...
>
> BTW, if it is not appropriate to ask qstns here or of the above nature I'm sorry. I am clueless.

I wouldn't say it's inappropriate to ask, but that isn't the kind of question I answer here.

> What's the go man? I couldn't see this happen nowhere near as much to anyone else.
>
> did you target me, cause I indeed was the only ones you saw with cuss words?

Yes, you were the only one with so many. And others were starting to quote you...

> > please don't use language here that could offend others
>
> Whats the point of banning swear words? What exactly are you trying to achieve?

The point is not to offend others.

> Civility is an subjective concept - your civility is not the same as mine. As aforementioned I have to conform to your conception. However, as this I assume is a democratic board and the use of such a word is not against the law, I question your need to warn me.

I agree, civility is subjective. Thank you for trying to conform. I would *not* call the administration of this site democratic.

> Your warn really hurt me, and I feel that maybe my posts have rubbed you up the wrong way. I feel worried that you want me off this board.

I'm sorry you feel hurt, but please don't take this personally. It's not you I don't want, it's uncivil posting.

Please consider not posting if you're feeling wacky. I don't consider it civil to joke about death or suicide, either. Have you read the FAQ?

Hey Bob,

I inderstand your last comment. I will not mention death or suicide. I only do this to try and brighten up even the worst sides of life.

In terms of my 'wackiness', that is something I will always be like. But this wackiness will be devoid now of cuss words. If i balls up once in a while I only did it due to memory probs - not to defy your authority. So please be easy with me.

A human being has an inherent potential of strength. I believe we should all capatilize on this. I only believe a lot, but not all, shrinks thwart this. In essence you say to them 'I'm powerless to control my own life'

Dr Bob, I appreciate your allowing such slurs on psychiatry being allowed, since you are a psychiatrist. This represents a wonderful open mind. I too am in uni and want to be a psychopharmacologist. No therapy.

In spite of some of my 'wacky' comments I must emphasis that my diagnosis is not within the realm of a psychotic illness. In other words, such wackiness stems from my innate personality.

I will try my best to follow your rules from now, but i must emphasis That i WILL NEVER EVER POST ANY COMMENT THAT IS MALICIOUS OR DEGRADING TO ANOTHER. I did once with another, but I felt they attacked me first. 2 wrongs don't make a right but.

Oh, the word ass was censored with an astrexis ie a*s. I thought this would placate any latent offence, but you don't like this so I won't do it anymore. Is that correct - I cannot post censored cuss words?

Yours Respectfully,

Ace.

You did that or I did that? Can you give me the URL for the post?

No, I definately did that. Every time I've used a cuss word, except twice I think, I've always used asterixes. But is this still not allowed?
If not, that's cool.

BTW, what the heck is a URL?

Take care, you seem like one of the FEW open-minded psychiatrists out their. (I assume you are in research at the moment, or also clinician?)

Bye Bob!

Ace.

(BTW, I'm sorry that time I used another email to get back on the site when I was blocked, you (and even some posters, realised it was me and I copped another week ban. How the heck did you know it was me!! I think it's a good thing but.)

Using asterisks is OK. A URL is the address of a web page, you know, starting with "http"... It's listed at the bottom of every post here.

Even the 'F' word? Cause once I put up a post 'Nardil gets me off like 'fu*k'. You didn't seem to object then.

BTW, is it inapropriate to ask a question whether you are a researcher or clinician. I was interested but don't really care if you don't talk about that type of stuff.

Take it easy dude. I'll try to be civil.
