emailing privately through the board?

Posted by bee happy on February 21, 2003, at 21:07:34

Hi Dr. Bob. I think i read somewhere on the board that it might be possible to email another board member through you without going on the board with our email addresses...Is that function functioning yet? I have been having an ongoing dialogue with Kara Lynn and we are both reluctant to post our email addresses here but would like to communicate privately. If possible , can you answer me here on this board with instruction on how to do it? Thanks so much. This is a wonder project you have here. I do believe you have helped alot of people. All the best, Bee

Hi again Dr Bob. Ok, I found the Babble mail instructions on the FAQ page and I have re registered but when I went to try to send a test Babblemail a note came up this url not available on this server. What do you suggest I try next? By the way can you shed any light on the use of Buprenorphine for Depression? Kara Lynne's doctor has told her he was keen to try it but was told it is illegal for any use except addiction maintainence. But I have been treated by my psychiatrist for depression with it for the last 6 months. Isn't it true that a doctor can use any approved drug for off label treatment? Thanks for you help.Bee

You could also try using the chat room at Psycho-Babble Open ( http://groups.yahoo.com/group/psycho-babble-open/ or follow the link from babble). It's a Yahoo group set up so we could have a chat room so you will have to register with Yahoo but then you can just arrange to meet there.

Dr. Bob, How do I prevent private e-mailing?

Dr. Bob,

I received a private e-mail, I believe from this board. How do I prevent my e-mail address from being given out? Is it somehow made annonymous? When I reply is it annonymous? Can I somehow change a setting so that I do not receive private e-mails?

Thanks, I was not able to find the info on FAQs, although it must be there somewhere.

Rachel

Are you sure it's from someone here? It's not being given out here unless you posted it...

> Can I somehow change a setting so that I do not receive private e-mails?

You're already set not to automatically display your email address, so that's good...

I didn't check to see if I could find you in the Psycho-Babble Yahoo group but if your name or email is available there & is the same as your name here, someone could've used it from that site.

I am not registered on the yahoo site, and am not registered on any other sites dealing with these issues. It was really unsettling to have a stranger e-mail me about something personal that most people do not know about me. Now I am wondering if I should take myself off this site.

The person who e-mailed me said she got my address off here. That it wasn't hidden. I've checked all my posts that I could find and haven't found my e-mail address posted with it. Now I'm wondering if I should get my address changed and take myself off this so it doesn't happen again. Could you please give me your advice?

Is it possible that for a time you were set to automatically display your email address? Or that it was a post under a different name? If you want to forward the email to me, with headers, if you know how to do that, I can take a look...

I'm not sure what happened, but I guess changing your address would be the safest way to go...

Bob
