Not able to parse message/go back/try again

Posted by mashogr8 on August 2, 2002, at 17:33:25

As I slowly and compulsively have been reading through all the messages, I'm finally up to April, 2000. But I have hit a snafu. The second and third archives for that month are presenting me much difficulty. I don't know whether it's the site or my really crazy computer. From a string of posts from around April 16, I keep getting a "can't parse" message. Is this because there was a problem archiving those posts or what?

Thanks for the answer. This really puts a crimp in my progress :(!!!

Hmm, it looks OK to me... Can you give me an example of a URL that doesn't work?

PS: What a project! :-)

It's okay here for me today, also but some of the posts I had trouble with included:
Amazon referrals by Abbyon April 16
Group Dynamics Research by bob on April 25
PsyDocs in MD/VA/DC on 4/25/2000

When I highlighted those posts, a response similar to a 404 came on only this time the message was something like "not able to parse.....go back..try again later." I do not remember any code number at that time. I did try later that day and still had the same problem. I wondered whether there was something wrong with storing the posts or more likely, my very worn out laptop.

Since you did not find anything amiss and I can read those posts today, it must have been computer heat stroke. Funny though, that only 2000 posts were affected. Then again, it was at least 85 in the house and 100 on the deck that day.

False alarm I guess. Thanks for the time.

Time does pass by relatively quickly through a day that way and doesn't leave any time for housework....plus you forget about the heat and humidity.

There is a reason for this hobby. I am trying to renew in my mind who people are and determine when I was active on this board.

This site has done so much for me as it has to others. What a genius you are to dream it up and what fortitude you must have to keep listening to us for better or for worse, in sickness and in health. Wonder what this place would be like if we were bound to each other......

Just after I sent you that message I received a document message that defined "not able to parse"

Some of what it said: www.dr-bob.org/cgi-bin/pb/babble.pl

Then it stated background image www.dr-bob.org/babble/FFFFEE.gif
Obviously, this refers to a picture. (I assume).

Then it says, Form 1 Action URL https//dr-bob.securesites.com/cgi-bin/pb/signup.pl

Then Form 2 www.dr-bob.org/cgi-bin/pb/babble.pl

I don't know if this is helpful or not.

Somewhat helpful. What would be even more helpful would be the URL you clicked on to get that to happen. You know, http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/admin/20020725/msgs/7012.html or whatever...

Don't know that URL.

I was just following the threads of the posts I was interested in and was not paying much attention to anything else when suddenly the effect showed up. I'm ignorant of the cause as I wasn't that attentive at the time. Should it happen again I'll know what to look for.

Today, I have no trouble at school and yesterday was fine at home.

Thanks again for trouble shooting.
