City of Pieces

Posted by IsoM on July 11, 2002, at 3:34:18

Well, it looks like the PB board has become the City of Pieces for many of us - fallen apart into little pieces of dissension. We've found a new haven - safe, comfortable, truly supportive & accepting. No blocks or PBC posts. Just sharing & caring for one another on an equal level as adults.

SandraDee, don't ever apologize over the 'ruckus' that was raised when you were blocked. Your block was the ‘lens’ that magnified & focused the problems with this site. It became clear to many of us what needed doing. Leaving this forum & forming another. I'd love to see you & others continue to share & support with us there too. It’s not necessary to leave PB to join us, if you don't want to. Interested? All would welcome you if you'd enjoy 'talking' with us who have, or are, leaving for this greener, friendlier pasture.

Most of us initially started out trusting & convinced there was much good here. AND we have benefited, despite the policies here. Why? Because of others similar who cared enough to extend a helping hand to those in need. But sadly, the longer one stays, the more the rigidity & injustice of this site’s policies become obvious.

Intentions of various posters have been decided arbitrarily. Sentences have been quoted out of context to back up flawed decisions. And healthy, productive dialog has been stifled – all in the name of “civility” & a “safe community”. And the administration shows no indication that there ever will be a change or improvement. An atmosphere of conflict & controversy is fostered instead. Misconstrue people’s posts as unsupportive & uncivil and - surprise, surprise! It all becomes horribly self-fulfilling. Conversely, the most supportive people are viewed as uncivil & bitter, & the least supportive feel vindicated. Is it no wonder that those of us who feel capable of making good decisions have decided that we’re tired of someone else deciding our intentions, & telling us what we should or shouldn’t say? No court in the land would pronounce us guilty as done here.

IsoM,
You said that it looks like there is falling apart into little pieces of disscension on the PB board.
If that is true, and frankly I do not see that, that does not mean that that is bad. In fact, it could be a good thing.
Productive change comes out of dissension. I am glad to see the posters here express their concerns. And expressing concerns is the first step to initiate change.
Now it is my beliefe that the ones innitiating the call for change, should be the ones that remaine through the changes. For change is usually gradual.
Lou

Where is this New Haven? Isn't that in Connecticut? Or is it New Hampshire? I always get those little New England states confused.

In all seriousness, can someone provide a URL to this new forum?

Thanks,

fachad
