And I just posted a med-related question/comment on the therapy board. That's because the conversation went in a different direction, as often good conversations do. And I still agree with all the folks who have complained about redirecting threads in the middle of them because the subject has changed. Eventually, it peters out anyway, but it doesn't ruin the integrity of the boards to have the conversation veer off; in fact, it has just the opposite effect.
It's pretty difficult to talk about one thing in exclusion of all others. A conversation should be allowed to take its natural course--yes, even if it veers a little to include meds. (My complaint on PPB was that I had a therapy question and folks were answering it with meds. I started the thread and said that if I'd wanted to talk about meds, I'd have posted on the med board. It doesn't mean that they can't be mentioned. We don't live in a vacuum!)
But it's quite a different thing to post an entirely new thread about meds on the therapy board or about therapy on the med board.
I would hope that your goal here is, as you have said, support. It's great to limit the boards to "just being social" or "psycho-therapy" or "med-related issues"; at the same time, however, you must allow people to get better by getting the most helpful responses, which often means a multi-faceted answer.

Dear Beardy,
What an excellent "review" of the issue. I couldn't agree more (as usual) with your argument. And of course, as writing teachers know, arguments are *good* things.
I don't understand why my mention of confusion re: so many boards was moved here. Since it was tangential, and just a comment, and since readers of the Social board should know there's a possibility that their post regarding one topic could very accidentally be posted to another, unrelated (?) board, it seemed important for me to mention it there, and not bring it over here.
Further, if Bob wants to start a thread on Admin on the topic of redirecting posts, then he should do that. But that would imply he was willing to implement changes in his policy, and I don't believe he is ready, at the present junction, to do that. Moving my comment over here to "begin" the thread signals just that.
Yours in argumentativeness,
Wendy

Although the thread itself shouldn't have begun there, our comments were, in fact, social!

Because it had to do with the confusion issue, which is an administrative one.
