Dr Bob is the only one who can out a ban on someone, who can actually get rid of them.. but we're all free to make suggestions as has been done many many timeshere.

Hmm? Dr. Bob has found asking people to leave to

be civil under his guidelines? My understanding was that less severe suggestions than that have received a pbc.

Do let's ask Dr. Bob.

Perhaps I could think of a few people that I could ask to leave, if the request is considered civil.

Not really.

I was trying to make a point.

Did I succeed?

Of course I didn't.

Of course I didn't make my point, or even if I did, others find it, well, pointless.

Friends,
To ask someone to leave is a very serious breach of civility,IMHO. I base this on years of being a teacher in public schools. You see, this is not a private board. It is open to all. Ostracism is a very uncivil act. Look at the hisory of segregation. It was an attempt to ostracise the minority. The concept was devised in Pulawski, Tennasee after the Civil war by those that wanted to continue slavery. They couldn't have slaves anymore, so they devised this cruel form of debasement, segregation. In WW II, jews were ostrcised into walled citys called ghettos. Then the next step was genocide. I will fight ostracism and segregation anyware, including this board.
You can gang up on me and persuade Dr. Bob to block me, you can call me names, you can tell others not to listen to me, you can attempt to arouse anti-Semitic feelings toward me by posting anti-Semitic web sites, you can debase other minorities like Islamic people, you can say that I am destoying the integrety of the board, you can say that I should leave.
Last week a person called me that saw my "benzo" stance. they called to thank me for saving them a life of misery, because the doctor had been giving her the drug for 4 months which was beyond the 7-10 days warning that would cause addiction and dependance. She looked throgh the internet and found to her dismay that BZDs were exactly as I had warned. She said that she knew that I was not trying to frighten people, but to warn them. Warning someone of a potential danger is not uncivil on any board.

My understanding is that Bob would like the things we do say to be said in a civil manner.

Besides the emotions it may or may not arouse. . .did my post make *sense* to you. The content is important. I've taken your lead, and tried to get it plain on the paper, no mystery. No hidden levels of meaning. Does it read that way to you?

Thanks,
Zo

I would only answer this Zo. There are certain things that can not be said civilly enough because they are inherently uncivil. In which case they should only be said by the person with the authority to decide such matters.

I can see that you are taking care to be kind in your posts addressed to me, and I just wanted you to know that I appreciate it.

I am perhaps a bit on the edge, and am getting a bit overwraught.

Sorry you're not feeling well. Conflict of any kind is very hard on some people, so take extra care. Thanks for noticing. I may be getting *marginally* civil in my old age. . .
