If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer, you need to go to the menus along the top:
Tools | Internet Options | Advanced
In the Advanced Tab there is a check box for:
"Display a Notification About Every Script Error"
check it, then Apply, OK, and go back to Pscyho-Babble. When you click the "find posts specifically for me" button, an error box will pop up. Click the "Show Details" button if the details are hidden.

When you see the error message at the bottom, double click on it and a message will pop up.. Click on Show Details. The message box will expand and give you the information.
You can't copy and paste information from that box, you'll have to type it in.

Sorry, are you saying sometimes it's "findName" and sometimes it's "findname"? I don't think it should be the former anywhere...
And I bet the problem has to do with Internet Explorer.

Sorry about that-
What I meant was that all other functions, i.e., insertName, insertPass have the second word capped and findname is the only one that wasn't.
You are probably right about it having something to do with IE, otherwise it wouldn't work with your-so probably something in the settings somewhere....
Do you know of anyone with Netscape or Opera having trouble with it as well?
OK-I'm dying to know this....Do you write some of your own scripts? I've seen the copyright notice so I'm assuming that you do.

Hi there,
First, guess what, before I even came on this board to see if anyone could tell me how to find the details of the "Error On Page" I took a wild @ss guess (which is how I've learned a lot of what I know about computers, which is still not very much - LOL!) and double clicked on the icon where it said "Error on Page" -- lo and behold, up came a box, I clicked on show details and found what everyone else on this thread was listing!
Then I come on here to find two ways to do this - fachad's way and what you mentioned about double clicking on the "Error On Page" notice which is just what I had done! ROTFL ...!
Okay, here's my questions:
1) what the heck is a script - you've made a few references to script(s) and you said you noticed that Dr. Bob writes them. What are they?
2) where did you see that Dr. Bob writes them - when you looked at the HTML code for his pages?
3) what is OPERA? I am guessing it's some kind of browser because you mentioned it in conjunction with MIE and Netscape.
4) You MUST have some kind of background in computers/software - are you employed in this field? If so, what kind of work do you do, and if not, where do you get your knowledge of computers?

Hi Janelle-
BTW (by the way), I like your name :-) There is usually more than one way to do something regarding pc's, and good to know all that's possible! There are a lot of ppl on the board that knows puters. It's fun to read everyone's replies and a good way to learn! (at least for me, I love anything regarding puters, and techie stuff)
1.) JavaScript is a programming language. If placed in the headers of your HTML (code used to write webpages), it performs calculations, check forms, you can even write games with it :-)...but of course, that isn't all you can do...the list goes on and on just like the Energizer Bunny!
2.) Very good! Yes, when I viewed Dr. Bob's source code, that's where I saw his copyrights.
3.) Right Again!!! Opera is a browser, and IMO (in my opinion) a pretty good one. The latest version is the best one so far.
4.) I bought my first computer 4/97 and the only thing I knew how to do was turn it on....literally. I was fascinated with what it could do and as soon as I figured out how to surf the web, I read everything I could and absorbed it like a sponge. There was nothing I didn't experiment with, and learned mostly by trial and error. Thank God I had a friend that could help me out when I hosed my computer more times than I care to remember!!!
I think that's one of the best things about computers too, everyone in the field always remembers their 'newbie' days and more often than not, willing to help those just starting out.
I have about a year left to receive my degree, I only take a few classes each semester because I have so many other things going on.
I've written a few things and helped my family set up their systems, applications to make their workplace easier-basically tech support for my family of 9 (including me). I've also helped out my pdoc (psychiatrist) when he's hosed his system a few times, and create presentations for anyone that needs/wants one...(one of my favorite things to do). I also run my husband's business, and have everything computerized there. I have a hard time charging people for it because I do love it so much and feel I'd be taking advantage of 'em..I know that's probably hard to understand, but how I am. When I do things for other people, it also gives me an opportunity to perhaps learn something I didn't know before.
Anyway, I didn't mean to give you my computer resume, and won't bore you with anymore of my techie lifestyle..I hope that answers your questions though, and if you have more questions, I'd be glad to answer them for you if I can.
I'm not sure, but I think if we continue, it may be more appropriate on social...maybe DB could answer that one...

It's still not working - from what I recall, several of us discovered an "error on page" message - have you been able to look into this? It's frustrating not to have this button/feature available! Thanks.

Janelle, that's the trouble with different browsers - not all support the same features. I, too, get the error on page message. It's not just with Dr. Bob's forums, but happens with a number of other sites too. It's doubtful that it's a problem of Bob's HTML coding or anything at his end. It seems to be more likely one of those 'bugs' you hear about with some OSs (like Microsoft's Windows). I asked my son to check it out & he went through the code & a program he can check with & it seems to be the Windows system.

Hmm, it works for me. Netscape 4.7 on a Mac 9.1. BTW, there was some discussion about this general problem before:

Also, with all the new boards, I've been running into problems with cookies. It turns out there's a limit of 20 per site, and 2 per board + posting name + password = 20. So I've combined the 2 for each board. So you may notice a difference if you don't automatically accept them...
