Babble *Disclaimer*

Ok-

I tried to write this the other day, and my pc froze because of this slow dialup thing.

Your disclaimer above the Amazon box ("Submitting a message gives me permission to use it as I wish. Please be civil.") bothers me for some reason, and I don't know why...

Do you think it possible to change the wording or have a link following tat giving some examples of what instances it may be used or whatever?

Kiddo

There's a little more explanation in the FAQ:

http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/faq.html#copyright

Does that help?

Bob

No, not really, reading the copyright info only repeats what you've already stated, and add info regarding others' copyright violation restrictions...I don't know, maybe it's just an issue of mine and no one else's. Like I said, I don't know why that particular phrase/wording bothers me.

Well, I'm open to suggestions...

Don't necessarily believe everything you hear. Your mileage may vary. The only posts I take responsibility for are my own. In a crisis, please also get help in person. It's good to give as well as to receive. What you say may conceivably be used against you. Submitting a message gives me permission to use it as I wish. Please be civil.

Hi Kiddo,

I see what you mean...

Maybe it is because it is written in the first person? And that it follows, "What you say may conceivably be used against you"
as in:

What you say may conceivably be used against you. Submitting a message gives me permission to use it as I wish.

as in "I could use it against you"

I can understand how it was written...short declarative sentences...but perhaps there could be a reordering....

Dr Bob's disclaimer regarding the posts on this site: The only posts I take responsibility for are my own. When you submit a message you give me permission to use it as I wish. Don't necessarily believe everything you read. As the posts on this site are available to the public, what you say may conceivably be used against you. Remember, your mileage may vary (YMMV), it is good to give as well as to receive and please be civil. Most importantly, in a crisis, please also get help in person.

Please don't think me critical of you or any part of your site-I'm not trying to be that way at all. I think what Susan said may have a lot to do with it, but I think there's something else as well, I just can't seem to put my finger on it.

Perhaps adding in "As this site is part of an ongoing research project, by submitting your messages here you are granting your permission for them to be used by Dr. Bob in their entirety or in part as part of that research." or something to that effect....

I DON'T know, and like I said before, can't imagine you'd want to use anything I may have to say, don't care if you did, it's just that wording that bothers me....

frustrated beyond belief-

Kiddo
