Availability of generic phenelzine (Nardil)?

Posted by SLS on December 8, 2023, at 9:23:13

Does anyone know what is causing the lack of supply of generic phenelzine?

My pharmacy could not get generic phenelzine (Nardil). They back-ordered it for me. Meanwhile, they found a pharmacy that still had 150 tablets, so I had to spend over an hour on the road to get them. The following are the three phenelzine products that had been available until recently. I think Lupin allowed their license for phenelzine to lapse last summer, but I'm not sure. I don't know if Greenstone is having supply problems.

1. phenelzine (Nardil) by Pfizer (Name brand)

2. phenelzine by Lupin (generic)

3. phenelzine by Greenstone (generic)

Can anyone provide information regarding the supply of generic phenelzine (Nardil)?

Thank you.

- Scott

Sorry to hear Scott. Lupin did discontinue their production, but someone on reddit said they talked to a rep who said it will be coming back (dunno). To get the last info on shortages / trouble getting it / where to get it I'd highly recommend browsing this reddit forum - there are discussions about it but I haven't followed since I'm not taking it at the moment:
