I'm on vortioxetine 5 mg/day and have been on it for about 3 weeks.
I had the opportunity to perform a little experiment.
Caffeine alone normally does nothing for me, even at high doses. Once, I took 3000 mg and got no stimulant effect. All it did was give me the worst night in my whole life, as I got extremely sick to my stomach.
Caffeine does work very well for me with a proper dopaminergic stimulant like methyl- or ethylphenidate in the background. It adds a major nootropic dimension to the dopaminergic drug. I get an almost "flight" of ideas, a cavalcade of interesting ideas. Furthermore, it has general, "normal" stimulant effects like enhancement of wakefulness.
So, I was going to see how caffeine worked with vortioxetine in the background. So, I took 500 mg, and I was pleasantly surprised! I wasn't expecting any effect at all, but I felt less apathetic, more awake, more attentive, and more energetic. I read some neuroscientific (full) articles and was comprehending them well.
Alas, I was unable to reproduce the experience the day after with the same 500 mg amount. It may be that a higher dose would have worked, but I didn't want to get into a chase for a high that takes higher and higher doses.
Has anyone else found that caffeine only works in combination with other drugs? Which ones?

Trintellix (20 mg) doesn't potentiate my caffeine in any way. I could drink a cup of coffee before bed.

>Yeah. I was desperate to get up and out of the apathy. Caffeine was the only stimulant I had.
