Hi all,
I received this message from the drugs.com mailing list:
<<NEW YORK, August 19, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) Axsome Therapeutics, Inc. today announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved Auvelity (dextromethorphan HBr -bupropion HCl) extended-release tablets for the treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD) in adults.>>I've never heard of this combination before. Does anyone have anything to say on the topic?

Hi.
Perhaps the NMDA receptor blocking properties of dextromethorphan works synergistically with Wellbutrin. Ketamine is also an NMDA antagonist, and is quite effective on its own.
I have a feeling you already knew that.

My doctor prescripts a "DIY" version of this will OTC DXM pills and bupropion.
Apparently, bupropion inhibits the metabolism of DXM causing higher concentrations.
I tried it without much luck, but I didn't give it the full 6-week test

Came here to post this as well. Really happy it got approval as DXM (Dextromethorphan) used to help my mood significantly for years (even though I was taking it reckless and in a way that would be considered recreationally).
An earlier thread on the subject (AXS-05 was the pre-approval name): https://www.dr-bob.org/babble/20191019/msgs/1107271.html

Oh couple quick things from my experiences w/ Dextromethorphan:
Do -not- take it w/ an MAOi - there are reports in the literature of fatalities (one of the true -do not take- w/ an maoi contradictions).
Lamictal really blunted the effect for me. This is decades ago now, but when I was first introduced to dextromethorphan (as robitussin cold & cough) we'd use it to trip out similar to shrooming. Years later I was put on Lamictal and it totally blocked the tripping aspect. I'd still space out a bit, and feel very detached but happy/social and w/o anxiety....but it was significantly less intense.
So, from my experience, I'd expect this medication to be different, if not less effective, for those currently on Lamictal.
This is the end of the thread.
