I have a bad D2 receptor gene

rs1800497 TT

This version (carried by only 10-15% of the population) is associated with lower expression of dopamine receptors.

Out of curiosity, have you ever tried aripiprazole (Abilify) or brexpiprazole (Rexulti)?

What about pramipexole (Mirapex) or ropinirole (Requip)?

It's too bad that pemoline (Cylert) is no longer available. It is a selective dopamine releaser. I think it is a passive releaser. It was taken off the market in 2003 for reports of liver damage. I don't know the statistics.

I would like to try mirapex at some point. I have never taken aripiprazole (Abilify) or brexpiprazole (Rexulti).

Ritalin helps, but it's harsh.

sometimes i need a stimulant to increase dopamine levels, right now im on lithium, i feel stable but my dopamine levels are lowered. I get on the net when i wake up, go through a few websites, but i can't expand and start googling or researching things. When my dopamine levels are increased i can be produtive and build more things online. Lithium makes feel stable, and a little bit improved mood, but it does not increase dopamine actually it lowers it. I need to work with my doctor my dopamine levels are too right now

DL Phenylalanine works -occasionally- to lift my mood and give me a lift. I emphasize -occasionally- because the very limited, low quality data in ADD/ADHD seems to indicate maybe 3 months of benefit with daily usage. depression...well, it looks like some depressives on Dexedrine back in the 70s were able to drop their uppers and stay on DL Phenylalanine. again: low quality data, old, all sorts of limitations and problems, but...yeah. better than nothing.

in ADD/ADHD, some people swear by Tyrosine. Never tried it myself.

other than that...now and then -- when I remember and my mood is low -- I take Schizandra fruit. apparently, it was used in the old USSR and in China for low mood and such in stable, tranquilized people with Schizophrenia. It seems to...not 'stimulate,' but temporarily bring my mood up to an OK, I can do this - sort of level. I go for the whole fruit, not a standardized extract, but that's just me.

ok. hope this helps a bit. :-)
