That happened to me few days ago. Yes, it's a problem, because it may keep some users, especially novices, from getting to the site.

Is it safe now? It still says "not secure" on my browser although there is no pop up warning anymore.

What you're seeing (and I am too) probably means there are parts of the page (maybe images?) that are not secure (encrypted).
