I was thinking that when you're out on a medication it's always X dose per day. Even though the half lives and effects vary, we almost always take a pill 7 days a week.
What if it's be more effective to take a drug every 3 days? Or the minute you start feeling it wearing off (excluding PRN medications).
I was thinking about this as I took a one off 150mg capsule if Lithium yesterday. I think it helped even me out, and if felt good to have -some- Lithium in my system. I've taken it daily even at small dosages like 150mg, but I've always wanted to stop. I know it's a beneficial trace mineral for the brain, so in that sense I like to have some in my body.....I just don't know if I do well taking it daily. Maybe twice a week, or only one a week.....

Halve the capsule (with the help of empty capsules)? I think it would be beneficial to have a somewhat stable blood level. Plus its hard to remember if you are not taking it every day.

Yea, I just mean some things might be more effective on an odd schedule, but doctors/patients would never know this.....since we take the same doses daily....
Probably doesn't ever really matter

I take many of my meds 'as needed'. Sometimes I take as little as 75mg of lithium, sometimes 300mg. For effexor, sometimes 12.5, sometimes 37.5, sometimes none. I go based on 'feel'. I know it's not supposed to work that way. I feel more well doing this then if I take the exact same dose every day. I think it allows my brain chemicals to bounce around a little (instead of being only pushed in one direction).
